Welcome to The Crowned Goat! I’m so glad you guys are here. I seriously can’t wait to get to know you better. Whether you’re a beginner painter, weekend DIYer, buying your first place, downsizing or just looking to give the existing spaces in your home an update we have creative ideas for a variety of skill levels.
This blog is dedicated to readers and friends that want to create a cozy, nurturing home through affordable decorating ideas, painted furniture, diy tutorials, organizing tips, craft projects, recipes, and holiday celebrations. I’m constantly inspired by a love of the South and seek to achieve its effortless Southern charm in daily life.
There’s no way I’d get half of the projects completed without the love and support of Team Crowned Goat. My bestie S runs the website and helps with everything from building to painting. This was the first time we’d ever attempted cabinet doors cabinet doors and I’m still excited about the way it all came together.
My dad built these amazing bookcases for my office as part of the One Room Challenge and my mom is hands down my favorite design partner. She helped to create my dream office and constantly inspires me. I still can’t believe we were featured on the House Beautiful website or that I get to work in this space every single day. We’ve worked on lots of different projects as a family. My sisters, brothers in laws, even the littles all pitch in and bring their best gifts. We recently renovated my childhood home, Loblolly Manor. It was so much fun and so much work!
Most days you can find me covered in glitter, glue, paint, stain or sawdust. I love to repaint furniture and give old things new life. You can also find me riding around in our old truck affectionately known as The Cherry Bomb picking up exciting finds from the treasure trail. I’ve been a vendor selling reclaimed, vintage and upcycled items at The Pickers Market in Fernandina Beach, Florida for a few years now. Some days I don’t find anything at all. But other days I find so many goodies, like this $10 mantel we were able to make into a headboard…
We are constantly working to make this house a home. I know a lot of you are working to create spaces you love too. Being able to DIY different areas of the house has given us the confidence to take on even bigger projects. I live on a tiny island in Florida and I’ll be honest, it took me a while to find my true style. I thought because I lived on an island I was supposed to have everything decorated with coastal style & shells. I tried to make it work for the longest time. But deep down, I knew my heart spoke in neutrals and craved effortless Southern charm every day. Since then, we’ve worked on one room at a time to embrace that signature style from the dining room…
to the laundry room.
When I’m not working on projects, I’m a steward of the land, a cottage dweller, mom to three fur babies, treasure hunter, a PBS watcher, lavender lover, wild flower planter, a curly hair wrangler, jogger, hiker, brownie batter stress eater, coffee drinker, painter, crafter and wanderlust seeker. I’m a DIYer, a dreamer, a doer, an occasional napper, baker, organizer, list maker and girl boss. Above all, I’m really glad you’re here.
Welcome to our adventure blogging and running The Crowned Goat where we strive every day to help you create a life and home you can be proud of. It’s my heart felt goal to encourage you guys every step of the way with budget friendly decorating solutions, easy to follow tutorials, videos and lots of creative ideas.
