This past weekend I was listening to the weather report. The estimated temperature was a balmy 96 degrees. If that wasn’t hot enough the weatherman added one last note, “It’s going to feel like 105 degrees.” As soon as I heard the report, I got out my vintage Pyrex tea pitcher and decided to make sweet peppermint sun tea.
It was a month ago this week my mom helped me refresh almost every space in the house. To be perfectly honest, the dining room needed the least amount of help. The china hutch and table take up most of the room so they’re definitely the stars of the show. Here’s how we brought the elements of a dining room refresh together.
A few months ago my parents saved the fencing that used to be around my childhood home, Loblolly Manor from the burn pile. The boards were in pretty rough shape but I was able to marry the weathered fencing with an industrial style shelving unit that was previously holding paint cans in the garage. Here’s a look at how all of the details came together.
The same day my mom and I worked to complete the neutral inspired chair transformation for Loblolly Manor, we started working on a set of chairs for one of my sisters. She bought these chairs at a recent yard sale for a whopping $10 and while I was at her house a few weeks ago she asked me to give them a coastal inspired makeover.

We’ve heard it said so many times shop your house first to give your spaces a fresh look. I wasn’t sure that was always possible but in the past few weeks, I’ve been completely amazed at the “free” transformation. This bathroom makeover is no exception.
