Christmas Inspired Bedroom at Bliss Barracks

I hope you guys all had a happy weekend. We had the perfect mix of relaxing, hosting and enjoying fun events around town. Yesterday was the first day of our Say Yes Advent Calendar and I’m already excited about the challenge of stepping out to “say yes” to things I would have normally said no to. Let me know if you guys decide to do this too so I can be excited for you!

If you’re celebrating Cyber Monday today (me too!) we have some great ideas in our 2016 Holiday Gift Guide Post so be sure to check those out as well.

Today, I want to share with you a Christmas inspired bedroom from Bliss Barracks. I’ve never shown this space before but it was decorated so beautifully for the holidays I’ve been granted special permission to share it. I know lighter color palettes and farmhouse anything seems to be all the rage lately especially on social media. Bliss Barracks is very traditional in that most of the finishes and furnishings are a nod to the past. I know several of you have a traditional look and have, at times, been frustrated there doesn’t seem to more traditional inspiration available online. I’m happy to say, we’ll be celebrating this traditional home all week!

As soon as you open the double doors to this suite, you know you’re in for a special treat.

My mom loves a great mix of European and Traditional styles.

She’s always adding personal items that made a space feel cozy and most of the pieces have been passed down or collected from various travels.

This sitting area is one of my favorite things about the room. It’s quaint enough to curl up with a good book yet big enough for all of us to hang out on the rug with piles of pillows and snacks.

Do you guys recognize this plaid ice bucket? I shared it a few months ago on one of the “from the treasure trail” posts. You can hardly tell I paid just a few dollars for it now. I loved how adding those holiday greens totally stepped it up.

If it’s possible to pass down a love for all things equestrian, I guess you can tell where I got mine from

Watching her add festive touches throughout this room was so much fun. I totally sat back because she was totally in the zone.

The first thing you notice when you walk into the bedroom is the large four poster bed. It’s been around a little over 40 years now. Those steps give me the giggles but you actually use them because the bed is so high.

My talented aunt made the duvet and pillows then my mom put the rest of the elements together. I love this mix of red plaid, faux fur and delicate white linens.

I love this simple way to dress up a nightstand.

It complements the bed without competing with it.

See you guys back here tomorrow. I’ll share the living room at Bliss Barracks complete with an almost 10-foot tree! Until then I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo
