Duck Egg Painted Cabinet
You may remember I picked up three pieces of furniture the weekend of July 4th. The first piece was a dresser I painted in Old White and added a wash of Belle Terra. The second was a dresser and mirror I shared last week. I painted it with French Linen. That piece was the hardest of all of the pieces to let go of. While I was at Haven the only piece of furniture in my booth I had painted Duck Egg sold. So, it was an easy decision to paint this cabinet in the coastal color is that has become a signature in my booth.
The cabinet was in good shape – mostly. We had to take the bottom pieces of trim off. There were just too damaged to salvage. Thankfully, my bestie S helped me put feet on the bottom of the cabinet to help raise it off the floor.
We also had to do a bit of repair on the doors.
I kept the original hardware and the copper colored decorative mesh too. It reminds me of a pie safe.
This color combination has been popular in my booth space for almost 2 years now. Sometimes I’ll make a custom color by mixing the two and other times I’ll just paint straight out of the can.
I painted the outside in one coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Duck Egg.
The inside is painted in two coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Country Grey.
I’ve found the trio of my favorite whites (Pure White, Old White, Country Grey) takes at least two coats and sometimes three coats of paint in order to get good coverage so keep that in mind if you’re new to using this brand.
I was going to paint the shelves in Country Grey but at the last minute I decided to paint them Duck Egg. After all of the paint was dry, I lightly sanded with 80-grit sandpaper.
Then I waxed the entire cabinet with clear paste furniture wax.
While most people see this color as coastal, I’m actually finding more and more it can be used with vintage décor or even as a French Country accent color too.
There are so many moments that go into styling and staging these blog posts that you guys never get to see. Just off the shot a major thunderstorm was taking place. Filbie was like a statue and would. not. move. no matter how many treats I promised him. The battery on the smoke alarm was beeping what felt like every 2 minutes and little Jelly Bean was slobbering on my feet. Is this the life or what?

CoCo – you’ve done it again! This hutch is gorgeous. You always know just the right colors and combinations to use in your pieces. Adding the feet made a big difference too. Your styling is equally beautiful! BTW – Filbie is precious
