When I was thinking about an easy to make last minute hostess gift the words…the weary world rejoices…kept coming to mind. I’m sure it’s related to the amount of times I’ve been on the phone with my family over the past few days. We’re spending Thanksgiving at Loblolly Manor for the first time in 26 years. At present, there is not a couch to sit on. I’m still trying to finish the dining room table that was a joint father-daughter effort. The dining room chair cushions need to be secured to the seats and we’re heading out of town for a last minute decorative supply run tomorrow. And still…the weary world rejoices…because even in the piles of fabric, paint cans and take out, it’s still an exciting time.
While you may not be in the midst of a decorating dilemma, you’re probably getting ready for Thanksgiving. Maybe your hosting family and friends, traveling with your howling pet or trying to figure out how to keep your kids occupied while your cooking the turkey. I don’t know about you but the “priorities list” seems to be growing longer each day and the amount of time to get everything done seems to be getting shorter. I still can’t believe Thanksgiving is a week away.
Through it all we have to find a way to give ourselves a little bit of grace and a lot of self-love. That’s why I’ve decided to celebrate the end of “Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice” season with this Pumpkin Spice Latte Sugar Scrub. It’s an easy “make and take” your hostess, friends or loved ones are sure to enjoy. Here’s the recipe if you want to celebrate it too…
2 cups white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon of ground coffee
¾ cup of organic coconut oil.
Place 2 cups of white sugar in a bowl. If you’re out of white sugar you can use raw sugar, sea salt or Epsom salt.
Add ½ cup of brown sugar.
Add 2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to the sugar.
Next add 1 teaspoon of ground coffee.
Finally, add ¾ cup of organic coconut oil.
Scoop the mixture into a jar with a sealing lid that has been well cleaned and is completely dry. As with most homemade scrubs depending on the type of oil you choose to use the oil may either settle at the bottom or will rise to the top so you may have to mix it up before use. Utilize common sense and take necessary precautions, as scrub will become slippery after use.
If you’re visiting family or friends for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, this gift is so easy to make. Add a simple ribbon,
a handmade tag,
or buy a tag from the store.
Believe me, there will be some stressful and maybe even sad times this holiday season. But there will also be some tender joy filled moments we don’t want to miss. Those are the moments we need to hang on to.
See you guys back here tomorrow. I’m teaming up with some super awesome ladies for a special holiday ornament blog hop! It starts today and you won’t want to miss the creativity…
