From the Front Porch

How has your week been? As many of you know, last week, we took an extra-long weekend to visit family in the mountains and celebrate an early Thanksgiving. I swear it gets harder and harder for everyone to get together for the holidays. Having said that, it is going to be really nice to not have the extra pressure of driving to more than one city this year. Last year, we drove to 5 different cities in 6 days for Christmas and it didn’t feel festive at all (just being honest). I’m bound and determined to do whatever it takes to bring a sense of calm to our holiday season this year.

This week I’ve been inspired by all things cabin, family get togethers and masculine spaces. Here are a few of my favorite things from around the web…. (Affiliate links have been provided for your convenience. You can read our full disclosure policy here)

Every year, Bre from Rooms for Rent shares the most gorgeous Thanksgiving table settings. This one so peaceful.

I’ve never really thought about masculine vs feminine decorating styles but this post from Emily A. Clark on Manly Decorating (In a Good Way) has me rethinking if I have a balance in my own home. I love the mix of black, white and leather.

Speaking of leather, we’ve been looking for new club chairs for the living room. I’ve never ordered a chair online before (other than the barstools) have you guys? This one is a contender

but you guys know my heart is set on this tufted one. It’s always hard to tell which fabric/finish is going to hold up the best especially when there are dogs and visiting littles involved.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a reasonably priced kilim inspired rug that is neutral in color. I would scoop this one up in a heartbeat.

I love love love black and white pictures! Ansel Adams is definitely a favorite for us and I know he is for a lot of you guys too. This print of Grand Teton National Park would be a fun addition to seasonal artwork.

This one would be a great addition as well .

If you’re tired of all things deer, try faux moose accents. This one is pretty awesome!

Buffalo checks have been my jam all year so I was beyond excited to find these at such a bargain price.

In case you missed anything on the blog this week, here’s a look at what we’ve been up to…

Just a gentle reminder if you haven’t already voted, election day is Tuesday, November 8. Does anyone else remember the hanging and pregnant chad? Every vote counts!

In addition, remember to set your clocks back one hour as the time will change on Sunday, November 6. This is also a great time to check the batteries in your smoke, carbon monoxide and alarm detectors.

I hope you guys have a peace filled and relaxing weekend. There are so many things happening behind the scenes here right now, I can barely keep up but that’s part of the adventure, right? My plan for next week is to share Preparing for Holiday Guests, Scents of the Season + Mason Jar = Super Easy Hostess Gift, How to Personalize Hot Drinks at Home and Traveling with Pets Tips. Last but not least, I’ll share all of the fun things we found around the web on Friday.

Until then, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo

  1. While that tufted chair is a best seller and so attractive, I recommend you read the customer reviews 1st. It’s a lightweight type chair, not real sturdy and the back legs rotate and won’t stay in place. I know this because I purchased & just returned the faux leather version. Save the packaging and learn from me (who sadly didn’t save) in case you are disappointed as well. Returning with Amazon Prime (free shipping) is awesome because of no cost but finding another box & repackaging was the worst part.

    1. I can’t thank you enough for sharing this with all of us Anne! It’s hard when you’re ordering things online sometimes to know if what you’re seeing in the pictures is the style/quality of the product that will actually be delivered. I’ll definitely reconsider those chairs and I really appreciate your input on this. Big hugs, CoCo

  2. Love this weekly feature, CoCo. I don’t always have a chance to comment each week but I look forward to reading it in the school pick up line. Have a great day.

    1. I appreciate that, Sarah, thank you so much!

  3. I say anyone that orders a chair online is brave. I’ve never done it and I don’t expect it’s for me. I want to sit down in the chair and make sure it’s comfortable so I’m no help as far as advise goes. Thanks for the buffalo check pillow tip. I’ll be ordering some today!

    1. I completely understand how you feel, Bonnie! I had only ordered bar stools myself until I ordered the bar chairs for the kitchen. I’m glad you like the buffalo check pillows. They seem to be everywhere this season.

  4. You need to come and decorate my house. I love all of these ideas!

    1. That would be so much fun, Casey! Although, I may have to trade out the moose stuff for a it of buffalo 🙂

    1. I appreciate it ladies, thank you! Hugs, CoCo
