From the Front Porch

Happy Thursday from the Front Porch, you guys! How has your week been so far? I hope it’s been a fantastic one and you’re settling into January with delight.

Did you have a chance to see Oprah’s speech on Sunday at The Golden Globes or to watch the National Championship Game on Monday? I missed the speech, but we watched the game and I swear it has thrown my sleep hygiene off all week ha ha.

Things have been mostly quiet around here which feels like a blessing. I’ve been working from home, so I can help take care of our dog Filbie which has given me plenty of time to work on design boards, conference calls, organize the kitchen and to get the house cleaned and back in order after taking down all the Christmas decorations last week.

It’s also given me some time to decorate a few spaces for winter and to invite all things cozy into our home this season.

The next few weekends are going to be a little bananas so I’m thankful for the quiet time while it lasts.

Here’s a peek at scenes from our week…

* The prettiest winter sunset.

* Taking care of this big guy following dental surgery. He’s 15 so you guys already know we’ve been sending up a lot of extra prayers this week.

* I’ve been working on a new paint layering technique for clients that ask for a French Farmhouse look. This is the leg of the desk in my office and I’ll be trying it out on a few pieces at Loblolly Manor too.

* Hygge happens here.

* I got this book as a Christmas present last year and it’s SO good. It’s great for beginner organizers, someone looking for easy tips to implement or someone that’s been labeling and organizing their dad’s tools since they were 8 years old he he. It’s probably my favorite organizing book.

A few of our favorite posts from around the web this week…

If all goes as planned, Stowe, Vermont will have a special place in my family’s heart come Christmas 2018. I was super excited to have stumbled upon this ski lodge inspired home tour to give us something to look forward to. Give me all the plaid, the texture, those cute little dogs…gah…I’m so ready – make sure you read this one, Mom!

Love the simple styling of these open kitchen shelves.

  1. Another fabulous week CoCo! We are so excited for you and your family and Christmas 2018! Vermont is such a beautiful state. Poor, sweet Filbie…hope he is doing better. Give him an extra hug and treat from us. We did see Oprah’s empowering speech #2020! And may we just proudly say – Roll Tide! It’s been an exciting week! Hugs and love to you for a wonderful weekend.

    1. Thanks so much ladies, we’ve never been to Vermont as a family so it will be a lot of fun to experience the snow together. Filbie is thankfully on the mend and I have no doubt he’ll be running through the yard in a few days. Sending you both lots of love and big hugs for the happiest weekend, Coco
