How is your week going? Thankfully my week has been way more manageable this week than it was last week. I felt like my car was on autopilot every time I hit the road to restock my booth at The Pickers Market. I’m hoping you’ve had a chance to look at all of the amazing projects that other bloggers are linking up at the Something to Talk About Link Party It’s amazing to see so much talent in one place. The party will end tomorrow at 5:00 pm EST so there’s still plenty of time to link up and as always we’d love to have you.
If you’re still in the midst of trying to decorate for Valentine’s Day, I have a few easy ideas I want to share with you. Last year, I wanted to give the bench seat around my kitchen table a festive look. The pillows I was using were covered with burlap already
so I decided to add a bit of red burlap fabric that I bought at my local craft supply store. I cut a medium sized strip, folded it at the sides and made a band around the burlap pillow. If you don’t know how to sew very well like me, you can use heat and bond or even hot glue. Just remember the glue will be somewhat messy due to the weave of the burlap.
Next I used a piece of jute to thread through a heart shape cookie cutter and taped a heart shaped paper doily on the back. Secure the longer piece of jute to the back of the pillow with a safety pin.
This project isn’t complicated at all and it added just the right amount of red to the bench seat pillows.
Since I was using touches of red in the pillows I decided to use touches of red to decorate the table as well. I put out pages of red and white checked scrapbook paper to use as place mats and added simple white ironstone plates.
I wrapped heart shaped cookie cutters with jute to use as napkin rings.
Given that I’ve used cookie cutters in both the pillows and the napkin rings, I had the idea to make the centerpiece of the table baking related too. I placed sugars in vintage storage jars, added a rolling pin, a heart shaped baking pan and paper garland to a vintage red toolbox.
I think these ideas are the easiest to achieve if you need something festive at the last minute. You can replicate them for a Valentine cookie or cake decorating party. They would even be great to use when having one of your girlfriends over for sweet treats for a dessert buffet. Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it!
See you guys back here tomorrow, I went shopping with my Mom last Thursday and I’ll show you what we picked up.
