Modern Masters Front Door Paint: One Year Later

In a million years I never could have imagined one of our most popular posts would be the time we painted our front door. To be perfectly honest, I was completely desperate when I partnered with Modern Masters in an attempt to rescue our front door. The whole porch was in rough shape from years of blistering Florida heat, salt air, coastal winds and tropical rains but the elements had specifically left our front door chipped, scratched and worn.

If you’re not familiar with Modern Masters Front Door Paint, it states right on the paint container “never fades.” I’ll freely admit, I was a little skeptical about trying this paint because once the tropical rains and coastal winds pick up during hurricane season, it all but rains sideways. Not only that almost every morning I walk outside the house I can immediately smell the salt air and let’s face it, salt is corrosive.   Skeptical or not I knew I had to try something different and if a company can make a promise like that right on the paint container, sign me up. We chose the Front Door Paint color, Elegant, which we loved from the beginning. The quick-drying paint was really easy to apply with a brush and by the end of the day our door went from this…

We were literally able to close the freshly painted front door in just a few hours. It’s been a little over a year since we completed this project so I thought I would give you guys an update on how the paint has held up. Did it live up to the hype? Was it worth it? In one word, yes! This is how our door looks today…

Over a year later and the paint is still a rich saturated black and I would say has held up remarkably well. For the sake of full disclosure, there are a few places I will need to touch up. There was the scratch from the ice skates I had hanging on the door last Christmas…

the small area right around the door where we had taped around the lock in order to paint…

and a few scratches from the nails of our 45-pound rescue who we swear can hear the food bowls being prepped from any spot on the property.

All in all, not bad for a front door painted a year ago. I would definitely use this paint again in a heartbeat. Modern Masters Front Door Paint comes in a variety of colors. You can learn more about this paint and other products here.

We still have plans to update a few things on the back patio which gets even more sun than the front porch so I can’t wait to try Front Door Paint on that door as well. I spent most of last week working to add a few fall touches to the front porch so I’ll share those with you tomorrow. Here’s a sneak peek at how the front door came together…

See you guys back here tomorrow.  I’ll share the fall porch tour. Until then, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

  2. Hey CoCo – love this front door color. It is wonderful how well it looks one year later. We think the ice skate marks are worth it, because we remember how cute thy were hanging on the door 🙂 Cheers to a great day!

    1. I never even thought about those skates making scratches literally a few months after painting the door, oh my word, what was I thinking? The color really has held up well despite my decorating whims 🙂 Hugs, CoCo
