The Pickers Market Booth Update

We’re gearing up for the 53rd Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival in Fernandina Beach this weekend so I thought I would share an update on my space at The Pickers Market.

As you guys know, I’ve been working to give my office at home a full makeover as part of the One Room Challenge Series. It has been so much fun and so much work all at the same time! One of the biggest blessings from the office makeover has been going through all of the inventory I’ve been keeping at home and reassessing the overall look of the booth.

We marked a lot of items down last month and donated a carload of things that no longer suited the vision we have for the space. It took longer than I expected but I’m so glad we spent the time to sort through everything. It really helps support the look so much better now.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned vendor or a single mom looking to design a cozy home, knowing the look and feel you want to convey in your space is so important. I know it can be really easy to get distracted and off track when shopping for the look you want.

Consider carrying a small notebook or smart phone that holds inspirational pictures, style words, space goals and list of inventory items to help keep your shopping and spending on track.

Also if there’s something specific you’re looking for make sure to tell the sales associates. There are a lot of fellow vendors that keep additional merchandise in storage and they may have exactly what you need.

The Pickers Market keeps a running list of customer requests so the vendors can pick up specific items when they’re out shopping. Ask if this is an option at your local antique mall too.

Keep in mind, adding items to your home that have been collected over time is part of the story of your home and part of the vendor’s story too.

I can’t tell you how many times I look back on pieces of furniture I’ve painted and feel such excitement that someone has that exact same piece of furniture in their dining room or bedroom.

It’s an honor that keeps me painting and hunting the treasure trails every chance I get!

See you guys back here tomorrow. I’ll share the one decorating book on my nightstand that helped me find my true style.

Many blessings,

CoCo

  1. Wow…your booth is chockfull of great items – a couple of them we wish we had in our possession 🙂 Purging and letting go are good things – or so we are told – to make room for what you really want. Your booth looks wonderful!
