Budget Friendly Bathroom Organization

We’re sharing budget-friendly bathroom organization tips today!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve really been trying to make the closed spaces in our home like the cabinets, drawers, and closets as pretty and as functional as the open spaces.

I get asked a lot if I’ve always been an organized person.

While my family would probably tell you I’ve appreciated things being neat and tidy since I was a young girl, it’s still something I have to work at every day.

And definitely have to “gently nudge” to get others on board.

Sometimes I look around and think, “How could things have gotten so out of control so quickly!”

It’s like you see the mess. But you’re so used to the chaos and clutter, it stops bothering you.

Until one day, you decide you’ve had enough.

We’re all about small changes that provide a big impact.

Especially, in areas like the bathroom.

Believe me, if we can get this mess tamed and maintained, it’s possible for you too!

So, don’t let the mess scare you.

Tips and Tricks for a Small Bathroom Linen Closet Organization Makeover-The Crowned Goat

Here’s a look at the budget-friendly bathroom organization system we use in the master bathroom linen closet and vanity cabinets…

Reduce Your Sheet Sets, Blankets, and Large Towels to a Manageable Amount…

As you can see from the pictures above the linen closet in the master bedroom is TINY! In fact, I’m standing in an adjacent closet just to be able to take these photos 😂

It’s also one of the most used spaces in our home. So, I knew we had to find a way to cut the clutter and chaos.

The first step was to reduce the sheet sets for the master bedroom down to just three complete sets, the most recommended.

We also reduced the number of beach towels we had as well.

Then we contained all the sheet sets and beach towels into flexible yet sturdy fabric-covered cubes. We use a similar system for the sheet sets in our large linen closet and it’s worked well for us for years.

If you have a lot of seasonal items or blankets, small cubes like this might not work for you. You might want to consider under-the-bed storage solutions, large capacity zippered storage bags, or big baskets depending on how much space you have.

Budget-Friendly Bathroom Organization Tip: Make Frequently Used Items Easily Accessible…

Place those frequently used items like bath towels, washcloths, and toilet paper on the most convenient shelf. That way, you’re not having to reach over anything to get what you need.

These cloth bins are a slightly shorter but longer version of the bins we chose for the sheet sets and beach towels.

You can see the contents immediately and they’re easy to refill as well.

The only complaint from my family is that the towels have to be rolled instead of folded in order to fit into the bin.

So, keep that in mind if you want to use something similar or if you have extra thick towels.

Declutter and Categorize First Aid Supplies and Medication…

Another budget-friendly bathroom organization idea is to use storage containers that have drawers!

We literally use these 3 drawer containers all over the house. Including taming kitchen cabinet clutter for cleaning supplies.

In the bathroom, they help us keep everything from cold and allergy meds to vitamins to first aid to stomach ache medications organized.

Before you decide to use a system like this, take the time to think about how many categories you have or need.

Then declutter and purge those items that have expired or you no longer use before you put them into drawers.

Label the drawers with fun stickers from Etsy or make your own with paper from an office supply store and your home computer.

Vow to keep the drawer as a set boundary so you use what you have first before buying more!

Keep in Mind, Safety First:

When the littles come to visit we pull these drawers off the shelves and place them out of their reach.

This should always be a consideration when organizing medicine, chemicals, or things that would cause harm to others including mischievous or curious pets.

Budget-Friendly Bathroom Organization Tip: Have a Plan for Backstock or Items That Are Not Frequently Used

We initially tried to use baskets from the dollar store to help with backstock items such as alcohol wipes, facial tissues, pet supplies, or items not as frequently used like monthly medical devices and sports bandages.

As you can imagine, it wound up to be a huge mess!

I use these paperboard boxes to store craft supplies so I decided to try them as a budget-friendly bathroom organization idea as well.

These boxes are great for holding items that are small or individually wrapped. I wouldn’t keep anything in them that could leak though as it could mess up the box.

You can find photoboxes like these at Michaels (usually on sale in December/January and August/September), at Hobby Lobby, and on Amazon. They’re much more expensive on Amazon though just a heads up.

Vanity Cabinet Organization…

Truthfully, I don’t wear a lot of makeup or skincare products so choosing to use the 3-drawer system was an easy one.

One drawer set holds all the makeup and makeup brushes. The other set holds skincare and haircare products as well as hair ties and accessories.

If you have a lot of makeup, you might want to consider using clear containers and adding shelves or risers to your vanity cabinet to help maximize every inch of space available.

When it comes to organizing your home, there’s not a “one size fits all” sort of solution. What works for my lifestyle might not work for your lifestyle and what works for your lifestyle might not work for mine.
