It’s hard to actually put into words what it’s like to attend a blogging conference. It’s so much fun and so exhausting all at the same time. You’re meeting up with old friends and being introduced to new ones. You’re eating breakfast at 7 am and going to sleep at midnight or sometimes not at all. You’re on information overload from everything being taught in the sessions. You’re meeting bigger bloggers that you’ve looked up to for a long time. Some of them are exactly how you’d expect them to be. Some exceed your expectations. Others teach you a valuable lesson on what it’s like to be in such a competitive industry. All that is to say this year’s Haven experience was nothing like last year’s experience but it was a memorable experience nonetheless.
Believe it or not, my mom and I have never been on a road trip without my all of my other family members. So when she suggested she come to Haven with me over two months ago, I have to say I was a little surprised. We worked out the details and met up Thursday morning for our adventure.
We pull up to the hotel and when the valet didn’t run out to greet us (what the what) we decide to park our own car in the parking garage. We were totally exhausted trying to roll our suitcases up the hill. Thursday night as we were walking back from dinner, I realized why no valet had come to greet us – we were parked on the wrong side of the hotel.
Ok, no worries, we got this. Let’s regroup. A Do Over just like the super amazing Jon Acuff relayed to us during his keynote speech.
We attended some awesome sessions. These were just a few of my favorites:
Months after reading the game changing book, Love the Home You Have I was finally able to meet blogger and author Melissa Michaels at the Insider Tips on Publishing session. Look how calm she is as I tell her how much I loved the book. Cool as a cucumber as my hands were flailing about. She was so kind.
Teaching that same class with Melissa was none other than Marian Parsons of Miss Mustard Seed fame . If a picture is worth a thousand words, my entire existence is screaming, “look who’s standing next to the homecoming queen. Me me me!” I know. I had one chance to be cool. One. Chance. And. I. Blew. it. I wasn’t cool at all. She was amazing.
As you guys know, I LOVE instagram! It was tons of fun to catch up with ladies that I’ve followed for a while now but haven’t had a chance to actually meet until the conference.
The amount of S.W.A.G (stuff we all get) I carried home from Haven was crazy! I can’t wait to show you some of my favorite products. I dumped everything out on my kitchen table when I got home. Look at all this awesome stuff!
These are just a few of the vendor booths we dropped by to check out. You’ll hear more from my time with them soon too.
We also got to meet Amy Howard, Founder and CEO of Amy Howard at Home. She signed a copy of her book A Maker’s Guide. We were totally overcome with happy tears when she shared heart stuff with us.
This is what we made in her paint class. Love!
After the final session on Saturday night, we enjoyed an extra special treat at 2 Bees in a Pod Headquarters. We were totally spoiled. It was a great way to end the weekend.
See you guys back here tomorrow. I can’t wait to show you a dresser I delivered to the store before I left for the conference.
