Around 1154 pm Tuesday night, I got the call we’ve been waiting for that’s been months in the making. I dressed in the clothes that have been folded on my dresser for 2 weeks now. I left them out in anticipation for his arrival. I went through this same ritual three years ago. This time there was only an hour drive to the hospital instead of a five-hour one for which I am completely thankful. The bag with snacks and games for the kids was already at the door just waiting to be picked up. I totally forgot to make the coffee the night so through bleary I made my way out the door and off the island. Three hours after I arrived at the hospital, this amazing little pumpkin was born. I’m taking another day off to spend with my sister and family. I’ll be covered in baby’s breath and kisses as sweet as sugar bowls.
