Goodbye March, Hello April

I blinked and just like that March was gone. I used to make fun of my mom because she was always talking about how “time flies” and now here I am talking about the exact same thing! It was another busy but productive month. I can tell from all of the shots with flowers in them that I had spring fever from day one.

I think the biggest change of the month was in the kitchen. We taught ourselves how to apply a subway tile backsplash in the kitchen. And then we taught ourselves how to grout a subway tile backsplash.  We used materials that we had never worked with before so it’s always exciting when the ideas in your head work out in real life. I can’t believe it’s only been a month since finishing the kitchen. It feels like this is how the kitchen should have looked all along. I also shared my organized pantry one year later I really have a hard time putting things away sometimes but this pantry gives me hope I can find a way to control clutter no matter what room I tackle.

We’ve been making plans to revamp our flowerbeds, bird feeding areas and outside porch areas. Trying to reign in 3 acres seems like a huge task so we’re just taking it one area at a time. One thing that’s really helped us create a vision for this property has been to visit local gardens in our area for inspiration. Check your area too because they may be having home garden tours and it’s exciting to talk to other home owners and find out what’s working for the soil in your area. We’ve also been cleaning out all of the bird feeders and birdbaths on the property. I’ve used this method to clean our ceramic birdbaths many times and I love to watch the birds stop by for a quick drink. In the spirit of spring cleaning, I’ve decide to start making our laundry soap It’s going well so far but I have to be honest, I miss that warm scent of lavender on my linens.

I’m excited to say the flowering bushes on the property are at their peak, which meant I could use them to decorate for spring inside. It all started when I decided to decorate the mantle in shades of blues, greens and whites. That just seemed to set the tone for the entire season as it spilled over to the kitchen table, dining room table and the rest of the house.

With the exception of a week, it’s been really nice weather here so we’ve been able to enjoy the new plants and spring inspired front porch. We’ve also been able to start grilling again and enjoy dinners on the back porch too. I love alfresco dining and I can’t wait to be out there every moment I can steal away.

I haven’t had as much time to bake or prepare goodies in the kitchen this month but I was able to deliver a sweet basket of Blondies to my nephew, enjoy a veggie and herb omelet over a leisurely weekend and soak up the scents of this lemon and lavender simmer pot in a mason jar.

I’ve only had the chance to showcase one piece of painted furniture on the blog all month which is rare for me but the reality is that I’ve painted multiple pieces that have already gone to the booth. I delivered three pieces the Sunday before last and the following Tuesday restocked the booth completely. That same week on Saturday, this 9-drawer dresser that I painted in a custom mix of Annie Sloan Chalk Paints sold. Guess who has another furniture shopping trip in her future this week?

Goodbye March, it’s been fun. April, if you’re listening, I can’t wait to see what adventures you have in store for me!

Many blessings,

CoCo
