A few weeks ago, I was so tired I couldn’t even get it together. After spending multiple weeks of blogging, painting, hauling, cleaning and searching for treasures I found myself feeling creatively empty. A few days later, I received the book Love the Home You Have in the mail.
With the workbench turned potting station completed, I turned my attention to painting the mobile workstation I brought home on the same weekend I brought home the workbench. I really like the simplicity of how the workbench turned out and I know my customers will as well. It was my inspiration for the workstation but it didn’t start out this way at all.
I found this chair at a thrift store a few years ago. I recovered the seat cushion with drop cloth and hand painted the grain sack inspired stripes down the center. Two years, later I’m happy to report the chair is still holding up well.
When I feel overwhelmed with my schedule I try to take extra care of myself. I love the fresh scent of lemons and lavender because it really helps me to relax. Since I haven’t had time to relax in the hammock lately, I’ve decided to bring the sunshine inside with this Lemon and Lavender Mason Jar Simmer Pot. You need a few ingredients lemons, lavender and vanilla to make this relaxing goodness fill your home.
You guys know what I love? The smell of freshly washed linens drying on the clothesline. It’s the perfect mix of lavender and sunshine. Yet for the past few months we’ve been dealing with major bouts of skin allergies so I’ve decided to start making my own laundry detergent.
I lobbied hard for a color of grout named Bone but in the end we chose Alabaster. It was supposed to be a pale gray that I think is going to look really nice given we have black granite countertops, maple cabinets and a wall colored aptly named Cream in My Coffee.
One of my home goals this year was to finish the kitchen. There’s wasn’t a major renovation planned just a few updates one of them being adding a backsplash. It didn’t take us very long to decide we wanted to use white subway tile in a basket weave pattern. But we struggled for months to find the time to actually complete the project. I knew I had to get an action plan together including a timeline. I gave myself until the end of February to finish the task and called my bestie S to the rescue.
