From the Front Porch

Happy Friday from the front porch, you guys! How has your week been? Good, I hope! I wanted to share some exiting news with you as I’ve been featured by General Finishes as the Blogger of the Month. As you guys know our kitchen, bathroom cabinet and several pieces of furniture have been painted with General Finishes paints so this was a complete and very welcomed surprise.

In other news, I shopped the loop earlier this week and had so much fun. We’re hosting company during the Memorial Day weekend and I was looking for a few things to freshen this sweet little cottage up for summer. I know “nesting” is typically considered a winter thing but you guys I could seriously nest all the time ha ha.

This weekend promises to be fun and bittersweet all at the same time as we head back to our hometown and Loblolly Manor. This will be the first time I’ve seen my family since my grandparents passed away and while I’m excited to see them, I know it’s going to be hard to be at my Granny’s house without her there.

Scenes from my week:

*We spent Mother’s Day celebrating my mom doing everything she loves to do but never lets herself do (think venti lattes, waffle cones and shrimp rolls #toomanycaloriesshesays), things she loves to do but doesn’t always make time to do (think relaxing at the beach with a good book, riding bikes, leisurely walks downtown #someonegetherasocialsecretaryalready #truth) and things that she wants to learn (think expanding her photography skills #thedevilsinthedetails). It was THE best day and it has me wondering how we can incorporate more of these simple pleasures in our weekends.

*I picked up this needlepoint while shopping the loop last week and now I can’t decide if I should use it on the porches or on the bench in the breakfast nook.

*My sisters are always telling me to “branch out” when it comes to fashion so I picked up this vintage dress this week. I hope I can pull it off!

*Treasuring the last bit of sugar while I can…see below for more details

I’m starting a week long detox with these ladies…are you? I know I can handle everything but the no sugar part. That one scares me but I know I need to try.

This bedroom makeover from House of Brinson as part of the One Room Challenge was stunning.

This Idyllic Swedish Summer Cottage Tour is every bit as gorgeous as you would imagine.

Studio McGee is always a favorite and they’ve put together some beautiful ideas for your outdoor spaces. You can find them here.

I recently pinned this summer inspired drink.

I can’t wait to order these bath sheets for the master bathroom. They look lux but are actually affordable

The artwork for the master bedroom finally arrived but not in time for the reveal. I thought we would be able to find a vintage frame but we haven’t found one that’s the right size yet so I’m hoping this vintage inspired one will work ok. It almost looks like there are bees engraved in the frame, right?

These are pretty enough to leave by the sink which is always a good thing if you’re limited with storage options.

Totally and completely obsessing over this.

Has anyone read this book yet?
