From the Front Porch: The Thrifted Finds Edition
Hello, from the front porch sweet friends and welcome to the Thrifted Finds Edition of this weekly series.
How has your week been?
This week all the littles who are really not all that little anymore went back to school and we hit some pretty big milestones.
One started his senior year, another started his first day of high school, one just celebrated her Sweet 16 and our part time chef part time paleontologist is entering his final year of elementary school.
Given they go to three different schools it was fun to see how each of them prepared for the first day.
The senior woke up early for “Senior Sunrise” which is a sweet rite of passage where the senior class starts the first day of school watching the sunrise together on the beach.
The day the freshman started, there were no sophmores, juniors or seniors in attendance. This allowed the incoming freshman to ease into a new school and a new school year without any extra pressure. The school also threw them a pizza party which helped ease any first day lunch jitters.
The 16 year old spent the day before the first day getting a manicure and her ears pierced.
And the youngest who started school on Wednesday when everyone else went back on Monday relished his final days of freedom.
As I was writing down their first day of school highlights in my journal this week, it struck me how new seasons can be both exciting and nerve racking, how preparation is a core component of confidence, how important it is to start the day off in a way that fills your up, and how having a strong support system makes all of lifes milestones feel extra special.
So, as we ease into the final weeks of the month, I encourage you to reflect on your most meaningful summer experiences and consider how you can proactively prepare for the upcoming fall season.
Do you need to revamp your morning routine? A room refresh? A goal reset?
Next, I want you to reflect on what fills your cup and if your current support system meets your needs.
Finally, I want you to think about how you can put all of these elements together to create a plan of action you’re excited about. That way, you can hit the ground running once the season arrives.
As always, I’ll be cheering you on.
PS: Sunday is National Thrift Store Day, if you need a budget friendly place to start on your refresh.
