From the Front Porch

Happy Friday, you guys! How has your week been? Do you have anything fun planned for this weekend? I’m pretty sure we will be knee deep in all things One Room Challenge. We’re about to embark on the scariest of all of the projects painting and stenciling the bedroom floors so we’ve spent almost every night this week pulling up carpet, padding and tack strips. I seriously do not know how flooring guys do this for a living. It’s so tough on your back. I think this will be the last of the “hard stuff” though and then we’ll be able to move onto the good stuff like shopping for accessories, linens and pulling the look together. We’re going to be cutting it close though, I’m certain of it.

Almost everywhere I go people that know me from the blog or Insta ask if we’re “that clean.” I can honestly say we’re normally really good about picking up after ourselves every single day. That being said, this bedroom makeover and all of the construction related projects that come with it have brought our cleaning routine almost to a complete halt save for the bathrooms so I thought I’d share what it’s really been like behind the scenes…my mom’s eyeballs are probably the size of silver dollars right now ha ha…

*currently, the kitchen table looks like it could easily be a scene from the garage

*just so you don’t think the dining room table was left out

*oh and our always tidy entry is currently filled with delivery boxes and bags of supplies

*and instead of pretty flowers by our sink, there are paint brushes

Here are a few fun things we found around the web this week… (Affiliate links have been provided for your convenience. You can read our full disclosure policy here)

Could you live in a 362 square foot home? This one is pretty and cozy.

Have you seen this tile yet? It looks just like real brick.

It’s been fun working on this bedroom makeover project but I don’t know how Chip and JoJo do this all the time. Check out this post if you’re missing them as much as we are.

If I were ordering at Starbucks in front of you, I would ask for a venti chai tea latte with almond milk so I was super excited to find this recipe for a summer twist.

I really wish we had ordered these before we started painting.

These would have been super helpful too.

Unfortunately, take out has been our jam lately so I’m hoping to find a little inspiration in this book.

We’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts to pass the time while painting trim and pulling up carpet. This idea has made it so much easier.

I hope you all have a restful and peace filled weekend. We’ll be working on the bedroom makeover, moving all of the furniture out of the room while eating pizza and ice cream thinking, “what have we gotten ourselves into” ha ha. I’m hoping to update you on the status of the stenciled floor, the last piece of furniture I need to paint and everything we’ve gotten accomplished during week four. It’s going to be another busy weekend. Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo

  2. Before marriage, my hubs was a carpet layer. This was back in the day when they kicked something to stretch the carpet. Fast forward and his knees turned to c.r.a.p. God love you for living in the storm before the calm Coco. It’s coming along beautifully.

    1. Oh my gosh, Mary Beth, I am so going to say extra prayers of thankfulness for your husband! This work is so hard, right? I totally commend him for being able to do it for a job. I think as soon as we get the floors finished I will feel a lot better. Right now, I’m covered in dust and bad attitudes eating cookies ha ha 🙂 Sending you hugs and thank yous for your sweet encouragement, CoCo
