From the Front Porch

Happy Sunday from the front porch.  Thanks so much for sharing your day with us!

We had our family Halloween party last night and while we’re tired this morning, we had the best time.

Everyone dressed up in costumes, ate from a spooky themed menu, bobbed for apples, participated in the “gross out cups” game and danced to the Monster Mash.

I was fully prepared to be one of the nuns from Sister Act but a spooky party requires a spooky costume according to the littles so I was on Team Zombie for the night ?

Not waiting until Halloween to have the party gave us all a chance to relax and enjoy being together.  In the past, we’ve had to rush through dinner to trick or treat before sundown and deal with itchy costumes.

This Halloween party felt like a win-win because we didn’t have to deal with any of that ?

DIY Medusa

To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t going to share Medusa or as the kids have renamed her Mona. I thought it might be too creepy for an actual blog post.

It’s been such a big hit though.  I’ve decided to share a mini post on how S created Medusa below for those of you looking for something that’s spooky but also easy to create at the last minute.

We bought a foam head at the craft supply store and spray painted it with Krylon Color Max spray paint in Citrus Green. As always, make sure you read all the instructions completely and spray in well ventilated area.

Next S added the store-bought black and green hair with a hot glue gun. Be sure to use caution and care as the glue gun will be extremely hot.

While the hot glue was drying, S painted rubber snakes she bought on Amazon with craft paint.

Then she used a glue gun to attach the snakes to the hair.

Once the snakes were in place, S used a face painting kit to apply Medusa’s makeup.

Before finally, hot gluing a set of glow in the dark fangs to Medusa’s lips.

Then we placed Medusa on these DIY Milk Glass Cake Stands and added black paper crinkles around her neck for an easy centerpiece display.

On a side note, having this creepy head resting in the front seat on the way to the littles house was quite the adventure. I’m so glad I didn’t get pulled over ?

October 22 – National Make a Dog’s Day  All month long, Subaru of America, Inc, has partnered with The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) as part of its Subaru Loves Pets initiative, dedicating the month of October to supporting the well-being and protection of animals across the country.

This year they’re focusing on pets that are considered harder to adopt with special needs such as senior dogs, amputees, visually and hearing-impaired dogs, and dogs with birth defects and physical challenges.

Contact your local Subaru dealer for more information on food drives, adoption drives and how you can best support this worthy cause.

While I know dogs are not perfect, all three of our dogs have been rescues and I can honestly say, they have given us more love than we could have ever imagined.

We hope your Sunday is peace filled and relaxing.  We can’t wait to see you back here next week!

Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo

  1. What a fun post, CoCo! First, I think this is the prettiest photo of you ever; I WANT your hair!! And that sweet smile!❤️

It sounds like the party was a blast…smart to do it early. So many people juggle the weekend before Halloween, and the very day. The Medusa is way too cool, very elaborate and detailed. Great job!

I love your compilation of recipes, I Pinned a few. The chicken enchilada casserole looks like a winner here as I follow a low carb plan as does my son who loves to pop in for meals. I also followed the food blogger.

Hope you have a great week, my friend!

    1. ha ha We definitely had a fun night celebrating the spooky house with them. I’m usually not into Halloween but those cuties wore me down something fierce, scar tattoos and all 🙂 Hugs, CoCo
