From the Front Porch

Happy Friday from the front porch you guys!

It’s been a week, hasn’t it?

I literally don’t even know how to put this week into words.

How are you holding up?

Maybe it’s the time change or waiting for the election results or perhaps it’s the fact the house is currently a wreck due to all the Christmas bins.

It could be the stress of the One Room Challenge reveal coming up and the fact my Dad had to guide us through how to wire the chandelier via Zoom.

I wound up having to order a second chandelier because the scale of the one pictured above was way too small and it’s been bananas ever since.

Speaking of which, the roofers were back at the house (again) because apparently there is yet another leak around the chimney.

All this is to say, I feel incredibly tired and completely distracted and I could use a hug ?

And a lot of grace.

And maybe some brownies too.

I’ll probably take a few days off next week just to try and catch my breath.

Fingers crossed we can get the second chandelier assembled and installed in time.  I’m getting nervous!

A Few of Our Favorite Posts from Around the Web this Week…

This post, A Dated House Becomes a Fresh Mid Century Modern Home will have you doing a double-take! It’s one of those before and after makeovers that is a true testament to the power of paint.

Speaking of paint, a peek at Leann Ford’s portfolio.

All the layers of texture in this home tour, A Place to Belong are really beautiful. (FYI: taxidermy alert so skip this one if you find it offensive)

Max Kim-Bee has too many fantastic spaces to share just one.

Ginger jars pop up in the most unexpected places in Lynda Kerry’s portfolio.

Speaking of ginger jars, wait until you see this tree and wrapping paper suite. If you love blue and white, you’ll love this one!

Nina Hendrick has such a beautiful style, and her photography inspires me every day.  If you haven’t had a chance to see how she celebrated Friendsgiving at The Camp yet, don’t miss this post.

How beautiful is this cornucopia?

This would be so much fun to make for Thanksgiving and it looks fairly easy too.

This Fall Movie Marathon printable is super cute!

The Holiday is one of my all-time favorite movies which is why this home tour was a fun one.

  1. Sending virtual hugs and you’ll get it done in time and it will be beautiful.

You can take care of the brownies. By the way, love brownies!

Sorry you have another leak. Fingers crossed it gets fixed!

    Cindy

    1. Thank you, Cindy! I think I just need to take a breath and get focused again on what my true purpose for the space is AND to also remember the real reason for the season 🙂 Sending you hugs – I can’t believe we’re almost to the finish line, CoCo

  2. I’m sending you over a virtual hug this morning, my friend! So sorry to hear about your roof dilemma! UGH! Hopefully, all is well, and can easily( inexpensively) be repaired. I absolutely LOVE that chandelier! Sad it won’t work in the room, but maybe somewhere else? I agree I think you really do need to give yourself grace (and lots of chocolate) and maybe a wee break to catch your breath! Now I’m off to check out all the inspiration! Hugs, Christine

    1. Aww thank you, Christine! I’m totally on board with all your suggestions, I think I need all that too. I’m hoping we can use the light in the hallway and the other light in the water closet…I’m still not sure. It was bananas to have bought 4 chandeliers in a weeks time :/ talk about ugh…thankfully the roofers were really nice because Tropical Storm Eta is on the way so we’ll be putting it to the test. Sending you hugs and thank yous for all your support, CoCo

  3. First off – Here is a big hug and if I knew your address, triple chunk brownies with Mexican vanilla it is! Sorry to hear things aren’t going smoothly. At least you’ll have a magnificent space when you are done. I wouldn’t even attempt to do what y’all are doing!
Second 0 Oh My Golly! If I lived at the Rosehill Cottage it would be a serene dream. Although, not having the kitchen table centered under the light fixture and that tiny tub would drive me bonkers. But now that I think about it, I’m certain Cameron Diaz has much longer legs than I do so the only issue would be getting in and out. Do they make water proof stools? If so, sign me up!
Last – I agree that the Fall Movie Marathon is adorable! I saw movies on there I hadn’t seen so I’m excited about that! 🙂

    1. Oh man, those brownies sound amazing Cindy! I would take those in a heartbeat. Rosehill Cottage is so awesome, isn’t it? I swear if that movie doesn’t get you in the mood for the holidays I don’t know what will. I’m totally going to check and see if the table in the breakfast nook is under the chandelier. I think it might be a little off too 🙂 Enjoy the movie printable and your weekend sweet friend. It’s going to be a great time to snuggle up with a big cup of cocoa. Hugs, CoCo

  4. You echo what so many of us are feeling now…it’s hard no matter how we look at it. I’m opting for the holidays as a way to distract myself from the ways of the world right now, but…I pray a lot!!

Those 1 room challenges are not for the faint of heart! You manage to excel, no matter. I’m looking forward to seeing this one!

Thanks always for the links. I’m using Amazon relentlessly for the prices, service, and quick delivery. It’s super hard to beat them.

I’m sorry I’ve been remiss–so much going on here. I have a post up from over a week ago and a new one set for tomorrow. I’m amazing myself!!

    Love ya CoCo! Be well.

    Jane ?

    1. It feels like so many people are ready for the holidays early this year, Jane, which is exciting! I think we could all use a little more sparkle and more snuggling up too. I’m so thankful to be at the end of the One Room Challenge. I’ll be working through the weekend but it will definitely be worth it. Amazon Prime has totally saved us this year too. Can’t wait to head over and read all about what you’ve been up to. Big hugs, CoCo

    1. You’re the sweetest, Heidi, thank you! I’ll take your hug any day of the week and I really appreciate your wise advice. It’s just what I need to hear 🙂 Hugs, CoCo
