From the Front Porch
Happy Friday from the front porch sweet friends. We appreciate you making us a part of your day today!
As some of you know, we’ve been celebrating a “summer camp theme” this season and I think it’s been one of my favorite summers to date.
Nearly, every afternoon a band of heavy showers rolls over our island cottage and invites us to slow down.
It reminds me of the lazy days we spent sitting on our bunks after lunch writing letters home and listening to each other tell stories while at sleep-away camp.
Even though we’re all grown up now, we still make time to honor this cozy tradition each summer.
Sometimes we let ourselves nap and sometimes we read a book on the covered porch while listening to the rhythm of the rain.
Sometimes the showers bring along a “thunder beast” and we’re wrangling our sweet rescue Piper off the furniture and into a “cape of bravery” (AKA a thunder shirt) 😉.
It’s never the same afternoon but the end result is almost always a peaceful one.
A few weeks ago, I decided to create a vision board during one of the downpours.
It’s been YEARS since I’ve taken the time to sit down and create one but I’m excited about the way it came together.
The beauty of crafting projects like these is that you only need phrases and pictures from magazines, tape or glue, a glue brush, scissors, and a sturdy foam core or poster board to get started.
Vision boards are great because they help keep you motivated on tough days, provide clarity and focus during the messy middle, and offer a sense of hope for the future.
I know it’s not always easy to squirrel away an afternoon or weeknight to craft but if you ever get the chance, I highly recommend making one!

CoCo,
I’ve not created a vision board in years. What a great idea. Thanks for sharing my intentional home post.
You are so welcome, Rachel! I loved how relatable and totally doable your intentional home post was 🙌 I don’t know what it is about this sleepaway camp-inspired summer we’ve been having but it has rocked my world in the best possible way. It was so much fun to craft a vision board! Hope you’re still enjoying your time at the beach and soaking it all in, CoCo
Looks like you are very busy, yet taking time each day to rest and relax. SUmmer speeds by way too fast. xo Laura
It really does, Laura! I can’t believe we’re already to the middle of the month but it’s been a great summer so far. Hope you’ve had one too! Hugs, CoCo
Coco,
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I appreciate you taking the time to do so….Love the vision board….What a great idea… I have never made one….
Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
Hugs,
Deb
Thank you, Deb! It’s been forever since I let myself get lost in crafting. It was so much fun though I definitely want to make time to do more of it. Especially, now that Christmas and the holidays are on the way. Hugs for a happy week, CoCo
Amazing Friday post as always, CoCo!! I’ve been taking many evenings this summer to go biking and get out on the lake on my paddleboard. It’s been wonderful!! Love to you, friend.
That sounds like the perfect way to soak up the summer season, Rachel! We’ve been taking time for the little things too and it feels really good. It’s crazy how easy it is to get wrapped up in the busyness of life or the day to day. Even if it’s having something small to look forward to, it still feels like a gift. Hope you have the best weekend, CoCo
Hey, Coco! Thank you for this post! I have never made a vision board and I really love the idea of doing that. Thank you for the tips and the inspiration!
LeAnne, who could use a mid-summer refresh on vision!
