ORC: Week Three Progress

I was heading out to the store early Monday morning to stock up on supplies. It had been a busy holiday weekend with Easter and multiple birthday celebrations. I’m not even going to lie to you guys, I was so tired. I was on the phone with my mom when I heard myself say, “There’s a chance we’re not going to make it. I don’t know how we’re going to pull all of this off. It feels like we’re off schedule and running out of time.” She sweetly replied, “Of course, we’re going to make it! We ALWAYS make it! I’m not even worried and you shouldn’t be either.” It’s worth noting here, she was on her way out of town and hearing her change to the “mom voice” immediately gave me the giggles. You guys, seriously, I don’t know if we’re going to make it or not but I’ll tell you this…we’re giving it our all. Here’s a look at the progress we’ve made for Week 3 of the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling It Home…

Thursday found us finishing up the board and batten installation. No playing, I thought it was going to take the same amount of time as it took for the home office but I’m finding out double the space means double the time for everything.

ORC Progress Update Week 3-1

We spent a good portion of Friday, at Lowes. Thankfully, we pushed this while also drinking a chai tea latte with almond milk.

ORC Progress Update Week 3-2

We also finished trimming out the windows.

ORC Progress Update Week 3-3

On Saturday, we caulked and filled nail holes then we had to sand..and sand some more…and then some more…and finally we were able to get out the shop vac to clean up all that dust.

ORC Progress Update Week 3-4

Sunday, we celebrated Easter with a big silly string fight and lots of fun food! It was great to take a break and laugh it out.

Monday found me painting all of the board, batten and trim. I didn’t know if I needed an Epsom salt bath, a shot of whiskey or if Calgon should just take me away but oh my gosh…you guys…I was so sore!

Wednesday, we finally started pulling up the carpet….let me just say here we’re a week behind on where I thought we would be on the floor. I thought I would be showing you the stenciled floor today…I know…#loftygoals

ORC Progress Update Week 3-13

We’ve been getting a lot of packages…here’s a look at how the chairs were delivered. I know I should go ahead and open them up and check them out but I can’t bring myself to do it until I get my nerves under control ha ha.

ORC Progress Update Week 3-14

My goal is to finish painting the armoire and to at least start painting the floors this week. They are going to be a beast so I know they’re going to take a while…maybe all weekend…I’ll be making cookies…lots and lots of cookies…keep you posted.

  1. You seem to be handling this chair thing way better than I would be handling it. I would be seriously upset if my hard earned money was laying around on the ground like that. I would be chasing the truck down upset just saying. Hope they’re ok, Bonnie

    1. ha ha I’m hoping they’re ok and when we finally put them together this will just be a funny part of the story. You know I have to keep my nerves in check otherwise, I wind up eating lots of cookies. Hugs, CoCo

  2. Oh my gosh CoCo – y’all have made such fabulous progress! The board and batten is AHmazing. You already know how much we love and appreciate your furniture transformations – they look beautiful! The window trim is like the icing on a pretty cake. You must be exhausted – but your hard work is well worth it!
PS – whiskey is always the answer 🙂

    1. ha ha oh the whiskey…the Wyoming whiskey 🙂 You guys are so sweet to be such great cheerleaders throughout this process. We’re so exhausted and so excited all at the same time. Sending you both big hugs, Coco

  3. Wow you have already done so much in a little bit of time. I love everything you are doing. Can’t wait to see everything finished. I really want to do some board & batten in some rooms of my house, you are inspiring me to get that done this summer.

    1. Thank you, BonBon! We had just finished installing board and batten in the office and loved it so much we decided to put it in this room makeover too. It’s definitely an inexpensive way to add architectural detail to a room. I can’t wait for you to try it. Hugs, CoCo

  4. Oh my goodness Coco! You are so funny. I can hear your delirium in your writing. I feel for you. It is so hard to keep plugging away on a time crunch. I love how the board and batten turned out. Stunning! I personally like option A on your nightstand but I’m always a sucker for contrast. Plus, I think it ties it back to the black dresser.

I can’t wait to see how it all comes together and I too am certain you are going to make it.

    Nancy

It is already stopping traffic like it is….I just heard that I75 is backed all the way up to I575…..Time to go, girl! You got this! —-and it’s really going to rock! Bless….. 1. Your comment gives me the giggles, thanks for lifting my sprits girl! I know it’s all going to come together because it always does. I just want to get it right and make it special, you know? Just finished your post on art and wall décor and it was so helpful! Hugs, CoCo

  8. I think you are amazing and I have total faith that you guys will finish on time, but I understand your panic since I’ve been there more than once myself!! I am already so impressed with the room – love the furniture – I pick C for hardware, but like them all. Can’t wait to see the final reveal – it will be beautiful and probably make me a little jealous since I know I need to be doing something similar to our master. 🙂
PS love the pic with your dog – as if he/she (?) is wondering what in the world is going on in this room!

    1. I appreciate you so much, Patty, thank you! Whenever I feel weary because there is still so much work to do I promptly make myself take a few moments amidst the current chaos to be grateful for the progress we’ve already made. I think once we get through this floor project things will start getting a bit easier. Thank you so much for your sweet encouragement, big hugs for a happy weekend, CoCo PS: I think Filbie is trying to find a way out ha ha 🙂

  9. First, I commiserate with you. Having a holiday in the middle of a huge challenge is brutal. Just take a deep breath—prioritize, and plan on everything taking twice as long as you think, LOL. You are over thinking the hardware—pick what you chose first. Usually, our first picks are the best. Grins, and I will be with you until the end, lol.Sandi

    1. Yeah for awesome cheerleaders, Sandi, thank you! I’ve definitely been overthinking more than just the knobs lately…it’s probably just exhaustion ha ha 🙂 Hope your weekend is a fun one and thank you for helping me to get back on track. Hugs, CoCo

  10. There is so much progress already, even though the floors aren’t done – so don’t worry 🙂 I like option C the best for the hardware (A just blends in too much), and I’m excited to see it all come together 🙂 You can do this!

    1. I appreciate your help with the hardware, Nicole, I think option C is my pick too! I think I’ll be able to breathe a sigh of relief once the floors are finished because then everything else will fall into place…I think 🙂 Can’t wait to see the progress you’ve made at your brothers place this week. Hugs, CoCo

  11. It’s coming together! I can’t wait to see the final look CoCo! Love the windows! The cookies looks so yummy btw 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Emmerey Rose. I hoping everything will all come together soon and I can just concentrate on baking more cookies ha ha. I’m so glad you like the window trim. It’s really an inexpensive way to dress them up. Hugs, CoCo

      1. Emmerey Rose says:

Can’t wait to see the finished look! By the way, can you share the cookie recipe as well? if you don’t mind 🙂

  12. I think we are all feeling that way but you have made soooooo much progress! It is looking so, so good too! Enjoy the cookies!

    1. I appreciate it, Danielle! Thankfully, I know this is all part of the process and I’m hoping once we finish the floors things will start looking up. Sending you hugs for ORC projects too! I can’t wait to see how things are going in your master bathroom. Hugs, CoCo

  13. Option C is my pick ☺. With b as a close second. Hahahaha. I am not much help am I?
It is coming along beautifully. Luv, luv! For some reason of late April always seem to be the Reno month in our home. We are elbow deep in swapping out two rooms, and redoing them entirely. From flooring up….. kitchen is half way done, as is the master bath. Study and sitting room were the ones tackled first.
Enjoying our progress…. and yes, I know all about the Epsom salts bath, the whiskey or both!!
    Big hugs.

    1. Thank you so much, Gee, I think C is my choice too! I totally know what you mean about April being Reno month. It’s like a mix of Spring fever but also trying to get a few projects finished before all of the summer fun starts. I’m really excited about the projects you have going on at your house. I know you understand the frustration of the chaos as well as the excitement of how things are all coming together. Sending you hugs for a happy weekend, CoCo
