Laundry Room Makeover Reveal
We’re sharing our laundry room makeover reveal today!
This is one of those projects I thought would be finished relatively quickly.
But it took almost two years because I got stuck in a creative rut and decided to work on other things.
My Word of the Year this year is “elevate,” and one of my biggest goals is to “elevate” the spaces in our home, no matter how big or small the task.
Just as a reminder, this is how the laundry room started.

Honestly, it fit our farmhouse style perfectly.
But there was one sticking point we couldn’t get around – it had little to no storage.
So, once we replaced our washer and dryer, we also set about adding stock cabinets.
Not surprisingly, it changed everything.

Laundry Room Makeover: Budget-Friendly Ideas…
To keep things budget-friendly, we kept the painted floor and painted all the walls in Valspar’s Bistro White to give the laundry room a blank canvas.
Next, we added a marbled tiled accent wall and a small rod between the cabinets to hang clothes.

I organized the inside of the cabinets with inexpensive bins, luggage tags, and ribbon I found on Amazon.

One side holds household essentials like extra paper towels, toilet paper, light bulbs, and ironing supplies.

The other side holds cleaning and laundry essentials.

I organized the cabinet and drawer between the washer and dryer with clear dividers.
It makes it really convenient to access laundry pods, dryer balls, and mesh laundry bags.
That said, it would not be safe to store them this way if you have children, mischievous pets, or someone living with you who has unique needs.
So, you’ll definitely want to find a safer way to store your laundry pods and other cleaning essentials.

Once the cabinets, washer, and dryer were in place, we built a shelf above them to help hide the outlets and connections.
Then it was time to add a few finishing touches.

Simple Finishing Touches…
I kept the antique chandelier that was already in the laundry room.
It’s one of my all-time favorite treasure hunted finds!

I used canvas laundry bags to sew inserts for the folding baskets we keep above the dryer.
In the past, I would have put all the clothes from the dryer in one big basket.
Then sorted and folded them.
Now we each have our own baskets, so I sort and fold directly from the dryer.
It’s such a time saver!

Speaking of time saver, I also hung the DIY Indoor Drying Rack by the dryer.

That way, I can start drying delicates immediately.

Next, I added a folding station we created from stock cabinets, artwork, and a few home decor pieces I found at local antique stores.

The folding station cabinet is organized with drawer dividers and bins, as well.
I used peel-and-stick wallpaper and sewed a dropcloth skirt to help transform the bi-fold screen we created to hide the water heater and our Dyson stick-vac.
Anna from Sky Lark House has a really great tutorial on using peel-and-stick wallpaper.

Finally, I recovered our ironing board,

and added a few fresh rugs, which helped to bring everything together.

All in all, I’m ecstatic about this laundry room makeover reveal and the way we were able to elevate the space.
It’s truly been a long time coming.
And while I’m tempted to use this antique French laundry basket, it’s just too delicate to use every day.

So, I’m excited to have recently completed a wire laundry basket makeover.
Consequently, I can now cross this project off my goals list.

Let us know how you’re elevating your spaces this year!

Thanks so much, Brooke, I really appreciate it! Hugs, CoCo
CoCo, what a gorgeous room! I love it! You’re making me think about how I can elevate our laundry room space. It’s right when you walk in from the garage–there’s no door separating it from the kitchen. And the pantry is on the far end from the kitchen so you walk through the laundry area to get there (which isn’t a big deal). When we redid our kitchen in 2011, we added matching cabinetry in the laundry room to make it look coordinated and, well, gorgeous. 😉 But there’s art on the wall that could be replaced and some clutter that I could get rid of. Hmm….food for thought…
Also, I love your drying rack. How cute is that?
Thanks for the inspiration!
Big hugs,
LeAnne
