DIY Greenery Table Runner

Today, we’re sharing tips and tricks for an easy DIY greenery table runner

Table runners and garlands are a simple way to make your table feel festive throughout the year. You can use them for multiple occasions whether you’re hosting an intimate birthday gathering or gathering your family and friends for a festive Christmas celebration.

Seasonal Decorating & Planning

Recently, I asked my friends on Instagram if they had started planning for the holidays yet.  I know it might seem a bit early to be thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas.

But if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that the earlier you start organizing and planning for the holidays the more time you will have to actually enjoy it.

Here’s a step by step guide on one of the easiest ways to dress up your tablescapes this season….

DIY Greenery Table Runner Supplies:

  • 2-4 Greenery Garlands (depending on the size of your table)
  • Greenery Bush
  • Greenery Picks
  • Centerpiece or seasonal items like pumpkins, gourds, pinecones, ornaments, candles, etc.
  • Cloth Table Runner (optional)

DIY Greenery Table Runner Steps:

Start by clearing your table off completely.

Layer your piece of fabric, blanket, tablecloth or table runner on the top of your table.

We picked this one up at a charity shop years ago. Consequently, it’s so neutral we use it all the time.

Next, lay your greenery garland out.  We used 2 garlands which we bought on sale at Joanns.

Choosing the Right Greenery

Keep in mind, when you’re investing in greenery and garland, be sure to buy something that can be used in multiple seasons. Especially, if you’re on a budget.

The more seasonal your greenery looks/feels the less you’ll be able to use it throughout the year.

Once you have your greenery table runner in place, start filling in the gaps with seasonal bushes or flowers.

Weave the bush or flower through the greenery garland,

from one end of the table to the other.

Then layer in greenery picks and

bits of texture.

To create a DIY greenery table runner that has a seasonal feel, add things like pumpkins, gourds, pinecones or ornaments.

Finally, add a centerpiece or larger seasonal items.

DIY Greenery Table Runner Decorating Ideas

If you plan to use a large centerpiece, you’ll want to put it in place first. Then create your DIY greenery table runner around it like we did for our DIY Fall Centerpiece and our Fall tablescape.

After you have your table runner complete, you can start layering your dishes.

Depending on the dishes you choose, they can help add elegance to your DIY greenery table runner

or a fun pop of color.

That said, don’t feel like you have to add dishes to the mix if you don’t want to though.

I know not everyone likes to leave their table set unless they’re actually having company. Above all, do whatever works best for you and your family. Especially, during busy seasons like this one.

I hope these tips and tricks for an easy DIY greenery table runner have helped. Let us know if you find any fun greenery combinations! Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
