Merry Christmas Tour of Homes Blog Hop
A few weeks ago I was on the phone with my mom and I said something totally scandalous. “I’m too tired to even think about Christmas,” I told her. I didn’t even let her respond before I recounted my ridiculously long to-do list. In my defense, it had been yet another week of traveling and having to be in 4 different cities in a 5-day period. By the time I got home at 8 pm on this particular Friday night, I just wanted to shower and go to bed.
“I think you need to take yourself to Target and buy a Christmas magazine. And a cedar candle. And maybe a Christmas cd. And make sure you go to the one that has the Starbucks because you need one of those white chocolate peppermint mochas you always like,” she said. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry but it got me thinking about my priorities this holiday season.
Three days later my Mom was at my door, red cup in hand wearing a striped shirt with silver threads the color of tinsel. She had two snowmen cookies and a happy grin on her face. “So, I was thinking”…she trailed off as she walked around my house…”we could make this year’s theme, Merry and Bright.” I started giggling. Merry could easily be a play on words given her name. “I have a few things in my car if you want to take a look. Nothing big, just a few things I thought would help get you in the Christmas spirit.” “Well, you have come all this way,” I said, “I’ll go grab my flip flops.”
We worked all day and into the night. My entire body ached by the time we finished. There were boxes of things we didn’t use all over the back patio, crumbs from cookies on the counters and a half eaten bag of gum drops on the coffee table. But I can honestly say it was the day I got my Christmas spirit back. Welcome to my 2015 Christmas Tour of Homes…

Karen’s Up on the Hill
See you guys back here tomorrow. I’ll share my Christmas porch tour.
Many blessings,
CoCo
CoCo – What a beautiful Christmas home. Love the festive colors and the attention to detail. Your gingerbread Santa is adorable – and you will see him in a later post at my house! How coincidental is that? LOL
The traditional colors just pop throughout the house. Who couldn’t have Christmas Spirit in this festive house? Glad you got it back 🙂 Great job!
You guys are awesome, thank you so much! That baking Santa belongs to my mom. I think about keeping it for her at my house all the time ha ha! Can’t wait to see what you’re cooking up. Hugs, CoCo
So beautiful Coco! And how fun that you got to do it with your mom!
Happy Holidays!
Thank you, Karen – decorating with my mom always feels like a gift. Happy Holidays to you too, CoCo

Nancy
I’m already soaking it up, Nancy! As soon as I got home from Thanksgiving and saw the tree up and everything decorated it made me so excited about the rest of the season. We definitely had some fun things planned. I hope your weekend was fantastic. Hugs, CoCo
Beautiful Coco!! So awesome you had your mom to get you in the Christmas spirit! I love your dining room and the table setting is perfect! Great job! Have a very merry Christmas! xo
Can you believe she showed up with cookies and everything? ha ha I think it was the silvery tinsel threads in her shirt that put me over the top ha ha. She’s seriously so sweet. Thanks for all of your kind words. Hugs for a happy day, CoCo
Amazing! Everything looks so divine. Almost missed the pup under the tree, so cute. You did an unbelievable job, can we come to your house to open presents? Looking forward to the porches tomorrow.
xoxo,
Brooke
That was my sweet little Jelly Bean under the tree. We found her on the side of the road a few years ago and she’s been the best gift. Thank you so much for your kind words. You’re totally welcome at my house any time you’re in the neighborhood 🙂 We could have so much fun. Hugs, CoCo
Your mom sounds fantastic CoCo ! I wish my mom was into decorating like yours. Your house looks absolutely beautiful and perfectly ready for Christmas! I love your tree topper and gingerbread cookies!
You’re so kind, Tara, thank you. I’m pretty sure I learned to set a table before I could read a chapter book so the decorating genes go way back 🙂 She’s a great lady for sure. Big hugs, CoCo
Love your story! And your house is so beautiful! Your front door is amazing too!
Beautiful!!! Love the tree topper. Is there a story behind it? Family name? I read the Outlander series so Fraser and the clan motto is familiar to me 🙂
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you, Angie! The “tree topper” is actually a plaque I picked up over the summer. It was made in Scotland and has a handmade label that reads “Clan Crest Badge of Fraser of Lovat. Translation of Motto, I am ready. Tartan Red Fraser.” Is that the coolest or what! It’s been my favorite tree topper so far 🙂 Hugs, CoCo
Coco,
Your house is stunning and I love the story about your mom soo much! What a special, special lady! By the way your kitchen tree is my favorite! I love the idea of a food themed tree! Thank you for sharing!
Cat
You’re so sweet, Cat, thank you bunches! Spending the day with her definitely felt like an early Christmas gift. I’m totally with you the kitchen tree was my favorite too 🙂 Hugs, CoCo
Moms just know how to make everything better, don’t they? Haha, well, most of the time. You have a beautiful home and I love your theme. Every detail is just perfect!
ha ha you are so right, Rachel! Moms are THE best. Thank you so much for your sweet compliments about the house. It was fun spending the day with her 🙂 Hugs, CoCo
Let me start by saying that I totally agree with you- mom’s are the BEST! Your home looks amazing. It is exactly the sort of space that I would love the spend the Christmas season in. I think my favorite is the blue ice skate ornaments. And the wreath on the chalkboard. Love it all!!
You’re making my heart melt, Courtney, that is such an awesome compliment thank you! I picked up those ice skate ornaments at a hole in the wall place that sells great vintage items. Isn’t that crazy how they used the paper clips? So creative. Sending you big hugs for a happy day and continued prayers for your sweet mom too, CoCo
Hi Coco, I so know how you feel and haven’t put up one Christmas item and to be honest still have some Halloween left. It takes a lot of energy to do it all and when you work a bunch it’s hard to find it sometimes. Your home looks beautiful and I may have to take a trip through target or starbucks and do the same. I’m off tomorrow so I’m hoping to at a little Christmas cheer here. have a great day xo Lisa
I definitely understand what you’re going through, Lisa, we both have long drives back and forth to work. It felt like such a gift when she came over and helped me with everything. Moms are so sweet like that. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself as far as the decorations go you still have plenty of time to decide what you want to do this year. Anything you create will be amazing. Enjoy your day off tomorrow. Hugs, CoCo
CoCo, your home looks gorgeous and ready for the holiday season. I love, love, love your dining room – your arrangement in the center is beautiful!! I’m featuring your home tour this week at our link party!!
Jenny you are so sweet, thank you so much! It took me forever to save for that dough bowl. It’s definitely something I treasure and use all of the time. Big hugs and thank you again, CoCo
