Blush and Burgundy Holiday Home Tour
We’re teaming up with some of our favorite creative ladies for a blush and burgundy holiday home tour today.
If you’re new here, welcome, we’re excited to have you join us.
This annual word of encouragement post is usually one of the last posts I write before taking holiday break in mid-December.
I’ll be honest, it’s so early, I almost put it off this year.

But then I realized the true magic of words of encouragement is that they come at just the right time.
The time when our hearts are open, receptive and need them the most.
So, take a few minutes to grab something cozy and settle in.

Our Blush and Burgundy Holiday Home Tour Inspiration…
Over the summer, one of our 88-year-old loved ones had a nasty fall that left him in the hospital and a rehab facility for over a month.
When he finished his rehab, he wasn’t quite strong enough to go home yet.

So, we found a state of the art assisted living facility for him to transition to so he could receive more support and have a better quality of life.
If you’ve ever had to place an elderly loved one into an assisted living or memory care facility you already know it can be an emotional rollercoaster for both the resident and family members.

Our preference has always been for him to live with us in Florida.
But his love for his own home, The Treehouse, has always been stronger than our desires.

Well, it’s been several months since our loved one has transitioned to the assisted living facility, and we’ve been hoping and praying he’d choose to stay.
Truly, we’ve done everything we can possibly do to make and keep him as safe, supported and as comfortable as possible.

But a few weeks ago, he announced he was officially checking himself out of the assisted living facility much to our dismay.
When we asked him where he’d rather be (thinking he might finally come to Florida) he simply said, “Anywhere but here.”

That moment was so relatable, I knew instantly the phrase would become the theme for our blush and burgundy holiday home tour.
After all, when we’re in the thick of it, it can be hard to see the glimmers of hope or to feel like things will ever get better sometimes.

When I think about our own Christmases, I think about how beautifully chaotic they’ve always been.
Rushing through gifts to get to the farm on time, a pot of peas burning on the stove because my Mom had to suddenly leave in the middle of our Christmas Eve meal preparations to handle a medical emergency, spending the night in a hotel without power because of a rare December tornado, a panic attack at 6000 feet that changed everything, being iced in at the cabin, spending our vacation holiday taking 16 hour shifts to help an ailing loved one, watching 10 members of my pod drive away on a family ski trip because my bestie S fell and was in a wheelchair following surgery and needed a caregiver because she had no family in town. There have been complete meltdowns in the car, burned side dishes, exhausting nights trying to keep all the balls in the air, second guessing gifts, and lots of deep breathing to keep our peace in between.
I share these examples because at the time, I too felt like I would rather be “anywhere but here.”

But had I stayed in that mindset I would have missed all the extraordinary gifts that came from those difficult moments.
The sheer excitement as we pulled up to the farm and saw our loved ones standing outside waiting for us to arrive, a complete restoration of grace to the family member who had the medical emergency, the kindness from strangers at the hotel who didn’t even celebrate Christmas, a helping hand from the most amazing brother in law to calm panic at 6000 feet, snow lightly falling as we made our way from one small mountain town to another, stars that lit our way during long drives, plenty of Christmas music and cookies to keep our spirits bright, fake snowball fights in wheelchairs, blankets piled high in the car because it was freezing at the drive-in, thoughtful gifts, warm cozy hugs and chats by the fire from people who deeply love us.

So, as we draw closer to the holidays, I want to pass along two of my favorite quotes from author and artist, Ruth Cho Simons in case you’re in need of a little encouragement too.
“Someday is made up of a thousand right nows.”
and
“You don’t have to be blooming to be growing.”

Because sometimes our expectations can pull us in a thousand different directions.
It can be difficult to stay intentional and focused on the present.
Especially, when we’d rather be “anywhere but here.”

So, let grace, compassion and kindness be your guideposts this holiday season.

For as Ram Dass observed, “We’re all just walking each other home.”

Hi CoCo
This is soft and beautiful as always. I’ll be pushing the button for champagne often.
Love the colors this year. Your tours always make me happy. Say hi to Piper.
It was great touring with again.
Cindy
The tree and your house look absolutely gorgeous, CoCo! I love all the burgundy pops of color you tucked in with the pink and gold! I adore that cute gingerbread mug! Have fun sipping hot cocoa and enjoying those twinkling lights! Can’t wait to see how everyone else decorated for the holidays! Hugs to you!
What a beautiful post, CoCo! Your words were so beautiful – I got lost in them and had to go back and look at your gorgeous home! Your home is absolutely masterful, down to the last detail – but I really loved how you used this post to focus on encouraging others and not on your home. That shows true beauty from the inside out, which your home only accentuates. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and home (and your color choices are brilliant!)
Oh CoCo, such a truly beautiful post to read with plenty of eye candy to punctuate your thoughts with calm, compassion and clear-sighted vision. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
PS: elder care is not is not easy care. But you are doing an amazing job of it.
CoCo, I love the softness of the pinks paired with the bold, rich burgundy. You have decorated for the holidays with perfection. So sorry to hear about our loved one’s fall. Hope is stronger soon. Merry Christmas to you!
Coco, the thoughts you’ve shared couldn’t have come my way on a more fitting day, as though I was meant to read them in this very moment. Thank you for putting into perspective that this taxing time of difficult decisions won’t always be the case. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I agree with others. Your home is stunning, but your post was so inspiring to read. Thanks for such gracious inspiration.
Your Christmas decor is so charmingly beautiful. Your encouraging words led me to ponder the tapestry of my Christmases past. Wishing you and yours a Merry CHRISTmas.
What a gorgeous post, both visually and emotionally!
Thank you for sharing your heart and talents!
Happy Thanksgiving and merry Christmas!
What a sweet and tender post CoCo! I enjoyed it so much, and your beautiful decorations! Your blush and burgundy is such a pretty combination! I need a press for champagne ornament stat! Hope your holiday if filled with happy moments and love!
Truly gorgeous details! What an absolutely beautiful home. It was a delight to be on tour with you. I shared on my socials. 🙂
Your home is so beautiful, CoCo. The colors you have chosen for your holiday home tour are so pretty, and I love the simplicity of the velvet ribbons. Your posts are always so inspiring. Happy Holidays and big hugs, my friend.
Hello my friend! I know it doesn’t seem like it (because I’ve been lazy), but I do read your beautiful and encouraging blog. I’ll admit, I’m hooked on the tours you link up each week.
Anyway, having my FB hacked and IG disabled gave me a new mindset and showed me what’s important.
Today, I read it all, then had to go back and look at all the lovely pink and burgundy together. It’s stunning, and I would have never thought to put those two colors together, but that’s assuming I think like you, and that’s absolutely never going to happen. You are amazing. And I can hardly wait to share those two quotes with my family. So fun to tour with you again. Hope your holiday season is restful, happy, and your cheeks hurt from all the smiles. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!
I’m in love with this color palette for Christmas…so fresh and unique! Your home is simply beautiful with so many wonderful ideas and details. Thank you for an amazing tour!
What a lovely and thoughtful post. For years my Christmas tree was decorated with blush and burgundy so I enjoyed seeing your wonderful tree. I could relate to this post after having my husband in a rehabilitation hospital for 4 months after his accident, All he wanted was to be able to leave there…or as you said to be “anywhere but here.” I hope your loved one is getting better.
CoCo, the blush and burgundy color combination is SO stunning. I absolutely love it. It’s all so pretty, but I’m really in love with that tree. Wow! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season.
