From the Front Porch: Fall Rituals and Anchor Routines

Hello from the front porch sweet friends.

Welcome to the Fall Rituals and Anchor Routines Edition of this weekly series.

Thanks so much for spending time with us today.

How has your week been?

Recently, I realized my inbox and social media feeds were filled with a festive mix of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas content.

As a content creator, I totally get it.

It’s an exciting time of year and Quarter 4 is vital to businesses.

As someone who works hard to savor each day though, I want to gently remind you it’s ok to quiet the noise, to go at your own pace and to honor the season you’re in.

I don’t know what it is but there’s something about this time of year that makes us stop doing the things we know we need to do most.

Things like embracing fall rituals, continuing our anchor routines, prioritizing healthy eating and sleeping habits and setting boundaries.

So, don’t be afraid to get back to basics before the holiday hustle begins.

A few more things you might find helpful…

  • Decide what matters most (this will help give you clarity)
  • Eliminate the nonessentials (this will help you focus on your priorities)
  • Think in terms of moments you want to create not time you feel obligated to spend
  • Update your calendar early and often so you’ll know what to expect and you can plan in advance.
  • Make lists to help clear out mental clutter.
  •  Hire help if you’re able (this will help you buy back time)
  • Delegate tasks or ask for help (this will help save you time)
  • Keep your house clean or if you’re low on energy do a 15-minute pick up sesh
  • Be kind to yourself (gentleness helps you put things into perspective)
  • Create a mindset reset or lean into a soundtrack that helps you through hectic days
  • Go for a 30-minute nature walk
  • Connect with someone you love (hugs and peptalks work wonders)
  • Give yourself the gift of refreshment (reading, hobbies, simple pleasures, naps, hot baths, spa treatments, etc.)
  • Give yourself something to look forward to
  • Set yourself up for a successful tomorrow with a solid nightly routine.
  • Prioritize your sleep (one of the best things you can do for yourself)

I’m fully convinced that if we can keep our core rituals and anchor routines going during one of the busiest times of the year, we’ll be successful at keeping the momentum going into next year as well.

As always, I’ll be cheering you on.
