From the Front Porch

Happy Friday from the front porch and thanks so much for the extra grace on our posts this week.

We’ve definitely needed it.

I was busy ticking things off my to-do list last Saturday afternoon when out of nowhere I got really, really sick.

I’ve basically been in bed every day since.

My best guess is that I had food poisoning of some kind because I felt fine until I had ice cream after lunch and things quickly went downhill from there.

While I’ve never been more behind on things in my life, I’ve also never been more thankful for the little things like cold glasses of ginger ale, late-night banana snacks, soft sheets, old school bed trays, and purpose-filled acts of kindness.

I’m hoping to rally this weekend and be back on track next week.

Watching This Week…

Have you seen the PBS docuseries Hemingway by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick yet? Honestly, I didn’t know much about him outside of the required reading we were assigned in high school and college, so it was really interesting to find out more about the man behind the myth.

I just finished our April book of the month, The Four Agreements, and while the beginning was super woo-woo it did make me think about how life-changing it would be to practice those four basic tenants on a daily basis.

I’ve also been reading, Home Stories and I love it! It’s been so much fun to hear all the stories behind the pieces she and the other homeowners chose and how you can create a home you love around special pieces of your own too.

Patina Homes is not set to arrive until late April so I’ll share more about that one as soon as I get it!

    1. Thank you so much, Christine, I really appreciate it! Every day seems to get better and better and I’m beyond grateful to be on the upswing now. Hugs, CoCo

  2. Oh sweet Coco, I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling well. I hope you feel better this weekend. I ate one bad shrimp at a friends house once. All of a sudden I felt so ill. We left and they live an hour away. I threw up the entire way home. Thank goodness we had a stash of Yankee candle bags in the car because I used them all.

After I got it out of my sysstem I felt better. The doctor told me it takes one bad shrimp in a bunch of good ones.

    Feel better,

    Cindy

    1. Oh gosh, Cindy, that sounds so painful! This is the first time that anything like this has ever happened so it has definitely thrown me for a loop. I’m still not 100% but I’m definitely feeling better this week than I was last week. I could barely get my head off the pillow it was awful. This week though, I’m soaking up all the sweet kisses from Piper I’ve missed. Sending you hugs and thank yous for your sweet messages, CoCo

  3. I do hope you are feeling better! I have been meaning to read THE 4 AGREEMENTS myself! And I love your console table too:)
    Have a great week!

    1. Thank you so much, Maria! While I can’t say I feel 100% I’m feeling much better this week than last week so I will definitely take it as a win. Any little bit of progress in the right direction is totally worth it. Hope you like the 4 Agreements. It was kind of hard to get through at first because the language is dense and it’s high on woo-woo but things got a lot better once we got to the 1st Agreement so hang with it. Hugs for a happy week, CoCo
