Indoor Coffee Station

Have you ever found a piece of furniture and in the store you loved it but once you got it home it just didn’t work in the space the way you thought it would? That’s what happened to me with this bakers rack.

I originally tried the rack on the wall in the kitchen close to the island. I tried to style it up with “all things kitchen.” I even took pictures of it for a blog post. But I never posted them because in my heart I knew something about it just wasn’t quite right.

See what I mean? It’s ok but not quite right.  It didn’t look terrible or anything.  It’s just that something about it kept throwing me off every time I looked at it.

And then I set up the hot drinks bar for the lumberjack party. I didn’t realize it at the time but there were 6 bottles of syrup, a metal drying rack, spices in glass shakers, straws, marshmallows, peppermint sticks, cinnamon sticks and lots of mugs.

As I started to place things back on the counter where we had been keeping the coffee station inside I knew there was no way it was all going to fit. And at this point, of course, we wanted to keep all of the extras. Here’s a quick shot of the way it looked in February of 2014 and really not too much has changed since then, until now.

See, I tried to cram everything on the counter but it just didn’t work at all.

I took a chance and set up the new coffee station on the bakers rack and I love it!

The bakers rack is large enough to hold all of the coffee essentials.

It’s close enough to the cabinets that house the rest of the mugs, the drawers that keep the coffee supplies, the water supply and the refrigerator.

It took a little longer than I expected but the kitchen is really starting to come together and this coffee station is keeping us right on track.  It’s been a few months now and I still love the new wall color.  It made a huge impact.  Everything seems to flow so much better now.  I’m learning that open floor plans can be really tricky to decorate unless there’s a cohesiveness to the entire space.  We hung a vintage chalkboard where the bakers rack used to be and it looks like it was made for the space.  I’ll have a better kitchen update for you next week.

See you back here tomorrow – I have a new piece of painted furniture to show you!

Many blessings,

CoCo
