Before and After Home Tour

So I was on the phone with one of my closest friends the other day when I heard her say, “I swear it’s never going to feel like this house is finished much less put together.” She’s in the midst of several big projects and was telling me her house felt like construction zone every.single.day. I can completely relate and I know that so many of you can too. No matter how much you appreciate your home it can definitely be tough to keep your spirits up sometimes. Especially when you’re putting all of your free time and energy into projects that result in slow progress. You guys may remember the painstaking process of rehabbing my childhood home Loblolly Manor over a two-year period. It was rough going some days. There were tears in IKEA…big ones…all out of pure frustration…and we were really weary. Thankfully, those moments didn’t last very long and we all rallied to the finish line.

It’s easy to get caught up in the smallest details. At the time, it seems like an enormous task to have to make small decisions over and over again. Decisions that you know will add up to big results in your design plans. But you can do this, I promise… so give yourself some grace.

As we slowly begin the transition from Summer to Fall, it’s a great time to reassess which home goals have been completed and which ones are still on your list. As you look through these goals you may find some that are no longer a priority and others that have been bumped to the top depending on your current circumstances. Whatever the length of your list have courage and faith that you will get there. It takes time, believe me, the best projects and coziest homes always do.

A few weekends ago we sat down to discuss the number of projects coming down the line at our home Journey’s End. At first, it was almost overwhelming trying to figure out how we were going to manage it all. But in the end it came down to some very simple notions…

  1. we’ve come so far already
  2. we understand our priorities and goals
  3. we’re creating a place to make memories

Here’s a before and after tour of our little Cottage Journey’s End and the projects we’ve completed to date. I’ve included some shots from the very beginning where it all started…questionable camera skills and a decorating “style” that gives me the giggles…

Some of the changes have been so small, I barely notice them at all but I know we’re making huge progress. Our plans right now are to makeover the master bedroom as part of the Fall One Room Challenge. It hasn’t changed that much since last summer…

The master bath looks the same as well…

We’re also planning to tackle a makeover for the kitchen which I’ll share with you tomorrow. It’s not anything major but will definitely take all hands on deck to get it finished before we start the One Room Challenge. This is how it looks right now…

In total, it looks like there’s going to be 8 – 10 weeks of makeover mess around here. I’m thinking there’s going to be a lot of take out in my future…

See you guys back here tomorrow. I’ll share the details of the kitchen plans with you. Until then, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo

    1. You girls are the best, thank you! It’s fun to look back and see just far things have come. I still can’t get over some of those pictures…oh my word…no words ha ha! Hugs, CoCo

  1. Wow Coco! You have come a long way. You after shots look like they could be in a magazine!! Hope the kitchen makeover goes well 🙂 Hugs!!

    1. I really appreciate it, Angie, thank you! I still can’t believe how awful some of those pictures were before and don’t even get me started on the “decorating style” it still gives me the giggles. I can’t wait to see how the kitchen comes together. It’s definitely going to change the whole look of this place. Big hugs, CoCo

  2. Coco! The transformation of your home over time is stunning. I can’t wait to see what you do in the One Room Challenge. Your office was such a knock out. I think I’m going to sit this one out but I’ll have fun watching you do it!

    1. Thank you so much, Nancy. I’m still not over your ceiling…hello…swoon! It’s crazy to look back on some of the things I thought were so awesome ha ha. Sending you hugs, CoCo

  3. LOVE all of the shots (before & afters) – I especially want your high table in your ‘home office’… 🙂

    1. You’re so sweet, Laura, thank you! Oh my word, I could not believe some of those before shots ha ha. We built that table using bar height legs as opposed to table height legs which makes it easy to stand while you’re painting or crafting. It’s also nice to be able to pull out the adjustable bar stools when you’re ready to sit and rest your feet. It’s one of my favorite features in the office. Hope you have a great day, CoCo

  4. Making progress! Yea!

Where did you get that beautiful rug in your office??

    1. Thank you, Linda! I found the rug on Overstock.com and it was a really reasonable price too. I ordered it back in April so they may not have the same one that’s in the office but it’s definitely worth checking out. Hope you have the best day, CoCo
