Welcome back to week two of our Something to Talk About Link Party! The inspiration you shared last week blew me away and I’m so happy that you’re back again this week to share even more.
It seems so hard to believe that January has almost come and gone. I swear it seems like just yesterday we were yelling “Happy New Year!” One of my favorite things about this month is that after spending extra time with family and friends over the holiday season, January holds a promise of both new adventures and of dreams yet to be realized. Goodbye January, it’s been fun. February, if you’re listening, I can’t wait to see what adventures you have in store for me!
The last time I went out shopping was the week before Christmas when I had to find a few extra Santa mugs. Luckily, I found exactly the amount I needed to make sure each guest had one to take home with them. On that same shopping trip I found
I hope you guys had a happy weekend. I was able to spend it celebrating with my family, which, always feels like the best gift.
So let me just catch you up. I was already low on furniture for the booth when January started. Normally people aren’t buying a lot of furniture in January since most people have spent a good amount of money on Christmas presents. But this month the most awesome thing has happened.
I was at the Renninger’s Extravaganza with my Mom when I found out I had a big hole in my booth after one of the dressers had sold. No worries, I had another dresser in my garage waiting to be painted. For this dresser makeover, I used two coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Country Grey and followed with clear furniture paste wax. All the details were highlighted using Annie Sloan Old White.
Have you guys ever used adhesive paper on a piece of furniture before? I hadn’t tried it for anything other than lining shelves until the other day. This little bookcase has been with me forever. I used 4 rolls of adhesive paper from The Dollar Tree.
After we moved the bakers rack to create an indoor coffee station, it left the entire area totally bare. I hung up a vintage chalkboard, gave a mini makeover to the Suwannee Sugar Cane Farm sign and the chair at the desk in the kitchen. In one afternoon I was able to complete 3 quick decorative updates in the kitchen and the only thing it cost me was my time.
It’s been rainy and cold in Florida most of the week. I’m getting back to basics in the kitchen making banana bread with chocolate chips. This easy recipe is perfect for rushed mornings or relaxing afternoons.
I’m excited to finally be sharing a piece of painted furniture with you. I painted this console table before Christmas. It seems like a whirlwind now but at the time I couldn’t believe 4 pieces of furniture sold between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg.
Have you ever brought home a piece of furniture and in the store you loved it but once you got it home it just didn’t work in the space the way you thought it would? That’s what happened to me with this bakers rack. I was almost ready to give up until I decided to use it as an indoor coffee station.
I feel like I’m finally getting back into the swing of things on the blog, at home and restocking items at my booth at The Pickers Market. I’ve even started training for a 15K run. I decided to make a scrub that would help kick start my morning routine. This Rise and Shine sugar scrub uses 5 ingredients: grapefruit, orange, clove, oil and sugar.
