From the Front Porch

You guys, how in the world is it possible that it’s almost the middle of January? I swear we were JUST yelling, “Happy New Year” a few days ago! How has your week been? Good I hope!

This week has been busy but in the best possible way. We’re celebrating my Mom’s milestone birthday tomorrow with a big brunch at our house. I’ve been getting ready for the festivities all week so I’m excited to see how everything comes together. Our birthdays are just a few days apart so getting ready for her milestone birthday means that mine is just around the corner. I’m totally ready though.

I know a lot of people have really focused on getting back on track with healthy eat habits, exercise plans and of course all things organizing. Are you guys still on track with those goals? Me too! If there is one thing I’ve learned this week it’s that decluttering is the key to being organized AND even the smallest change makes a big impact.   Here are a few fun things I found around the web this week to help us kick start a happy and healthy New Year… ((Affiliate links have been provided for your convenience. I never thought about using this word as a “Word of the Year” until one of our readers (thank you Linda) sent me this post. It’s not too late to choose a word if you haven’t chosen one already!

The term Hygge is a new one for me but for the Danish it’s a way of life. This post on 5 Ways to Hygge in 2017 has me wanting to practice it so much more.

This farmhouse which survived Hurricane Sandy gives me hope for all the homes that survived Hurricane Matthew that still need a bit of work.

I helped my mom declutter and organize her kitchen, pantry and refrigerator last weekend. It looks SO good. I told her we should celebrate by ordering these kitchen towels

this seed starter kit

this utensil organizer

this drawer organizer

this pasta pot

and this cookbook which I’ve had multiple friends say is a “sure thing.”

My dad probably needs this handy gadget after suffering an unfortunate microwave incident ha ha!

Organizing is my jam and so many of you have responded in a way that melts my heart. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Here’s look at what we’ve been up to on the blog this week…

  2. After reading your posts this week, I realize I need a lot more decluttering, organization and probably now Hygge in my life too. It seems overwhelming to try to make this all happen but I’m motivated and ready. Happy Birthday to your mom, Sarah

    1. ha ha you’re giving me the giggles Sarah! I didn’t know what Hygge was either but now I want to try it too. I know all of this is a lot which is why you need to do it by categories instead of rooms. Do what you can, ok? Small changes add up to big impacts down the road you’ll see. Hugs, CoCo
