From the Front Porch

Happy Thursday from the front porch you guys! How has your week been? Are you in the middle of all things school prep yet? My sweet niece has to start school every year on her birthday. She asked for “anything and everything pink or pig” so it’s been fun shopping for her this week. We promised to sneak in extra surprises to make sure her birthday is a special one despite what promises to be a whirlwind of a first day.

After struggling through a migraine, the entire weekend, I’m beyond thankful for a productive week as we continue to move forward on several projects. I swear hitting the finish line on any project big or small always makes us want to jump up and down, high-hive the dogs and celebrate. I’ve spent a good part of this week catching up!

As I shared last week, while we’re definitely getting excited about Fall, we’ve also found ourselves holding onto summer these past few weeks. We’re planning to grab a few sandwiches and head to the beach later today and I’m hoping we’ll have time to grill out this weekend too.

Scenes from our week…

I went shopping with my Mom and we found a lot of goodies for an upcoming bedroom makeover project. Horse trophies in any size have been really difficult to find lately and the minute we came across all of these, I knew they were going home with one of us no matter what!

Whenever we shop “The Loop” we eat at the same place for lunch each time and this place has THE best coconut cake I’ve ever tasted. They’ve been sold out of cake the past few times we’ve been there, so we were all but giddy to see it under the cake dome as we were seated. Needless to say, it did not disappoint and I’m currently on the hunt for a similar recipe.  Let me know if you have one!

On that same shopping trip, I found some fabric I’m hoping to be able to use in the living room. All this fabric was only $3.99 which made it worth taking the chance on despite not knowing how many yards were there. In fact, not a month ago I bought pillows for the breakfast nook in this exact same material. Talk about meant to be!

We tried the Pink Detox Salad and it was really good. Our market didn’t have pomegranates, so we weren’t able to include them but other than that we’re going to add this recipe to our recipe box and have it again. Have you guys tried it yet? PS: This is a better shot of the breakfast tabletop because the sun had gone down!

Quote of the week & Free Printable…

Reading this week…

I just let my Mom borrow this book and she’s in love ha ha. I might have to order her a copy of her own because she said she was going to, “Study every page.” It’s a bit more traditional than my own vintage farmhouse style but honestly, every image and page are well appointed in a comfortable, Southern charm kind of way – it’s worth studying. We loved it!

A few of our favorite posts from around the web this week…

This lovingly restored home in Charleston is so pretty. It makes me want to redo our outdoor area immediately. That blue door though, totally fabulous!

This Caribbean villa is stunning.

My sweet friend, Mary, constantly inspires me with her talent. This Blue and White China Cabinet Makeover is definitely a favorite.

Speaking of talented friends, have you guys seen this gorgeous tablescape post from 2 Bees in a Pod? I know!

As you guys know I watch very little television but I literally clear my calendar for this show and gobble up scones like it’s my j-o-b for the weekend. It sounds like Season 3 is definitely worth waiting for!

I hope you all have a peace filled and happy weekend. We have a great week coming up next week. As I mentioned, we’ll be celebrating my niece’s birthday and I’ll be *fingers crossed* finished painting the entry this weekend too. I have one side complete and half of the other side with half a coat on it. I’m also hoping the art for the breakfast nook arrives as well so we can have the reveal ready to go by Monday.

Whatever you have planned I hope it’s something you’re excited about too. I can’t wait to see you back here on Monday. Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo
