How to Make a Quick & Easy Patriotic Drink

Are you guys ready for a refreshing, yet quick and easy patriotic drink idea?

A few weeks ago, we spent some time enjoying a long afternoon in the back yard complete with water slide, silly string, dinner and an outdoor movie. I heard myself say at least a dozen times, “Remember to stay hydrated,” and “Don’t forget to stop and take a drink!”

I know so many of you can relate given its summer and we’re likely all spending time with our families in the backyard, on the lake, hiking the trails, picnicking at park or spending a relaxing day at the beach.

We’ve been embracing a summer of simple pleasures which for us means coming up with quick and easy ways we can slow down and celebrate all that this season has to offer.

This patriotic drink is super simple to make and can be easily customized with the colors and flavors of your choice. Here in the US we’ll be gearing up for the 4^th of July soon, so it seemed fitting we would create a patriotic version that can be enjoyed all summer long.

Here’s a look at how you can make this quick and easy patriotic drink in no time…

Materials Needed to Make a Patriotic Drink:

• Silicon Star Molds
• Red Drink or Drink Mix (we made Cherry Kool-Aid)
• Blue Drink or Drink Mix (we made Blue Raspberry Kool-Aid)
• Bubbly Clear Drink (we used Pellegrino)
• Drinking Glass
• Decorative Straw

Steps Needed to Make a Patriotic Drink:

Step 1 – Before you start, make sure your star silicon molds have been cleaned and dried.

Step 2 – Then begin by making or buying red and blue drinks. We made Cherry and Blue Raspberry Kool-Aid just to keep it family friendly but I’m sure you can find a drink with these colors already made on the drink aisle of your favorite grocery store especially if you’re short on time.

Step 3 – Next pour the red and blue drink into two different silicon star molds.

Step 4 – Place the star molds flat on a shelf in the freezer and allow each drink to freeze completely.

Step 5 – Carefully, turn the silicon molds over to release the star shaped ice.

Just a heads up they’re pretty small so they start to melt pretty quickly.

Step 6 – Place the star shaped ice into a drinking glass

Step 7 – and pour your favorite clear bubbly drink over the ice. Again, we used Pellegrino to keep it family friendly but there are a lot of other clear bubbly drink options you can use.

Step 8 – Don’t forget to add a decorative straw. We picked these up at Marshalls for $1.99. You might also want to check big box stores like Target, the Dollar Store or even a party supply store as well.

Setting up an indoor drink station for holidays like the 4^th of July doesn’t have to be fussy or take a long time.

You might want to leave the star shaped ice out so people can get as many as they want given they melt so quickly.

We usually serve the patriotic ice stars in a small bowl from the drink station. You might also want to consider keeping them in an ice bucket if you’re expecting a lot of company though, they’ll keep longer that way.

We love this quick and easy patriotic drink idea because it can be easily customized with a variety of different colors and flavors. It can also be really refreshing on a hot summer day. Finally, it’s a simple way to make the season festive without having to go through a lot of extra work!
