DIY Doughnut Hole Decorating Kit

Today, we’re sharing a simple yet festive way to kick off the lazy days of summer with DIY Doughnut Hole Decorating Kit!

Several weeks ago, I stumbled upon a post about how Dunkin’ was selling DIY doughnut decorating kits across the US and it immediately got me thinking.

Truthfully, I don’t ever remember not having access to doughnuts.  When we were little, we would buy them in a sleeve at the Jiffy Store.

On Saturday mornings and for special occasions we’d go to the bakery and pick out a doughnut that was heavily iced and loaded with sprinkles.

My Mom told us stories of being in graduate school and waiting for the little red Krispy Kreme light to come on so she could finally take a study break ?

Given I live about an hour from the nearest Krispy Kreme and about 45 minutes from the nearest Dunkin’, I’ve had to get pretty savvy about learning how to make doughnuts at home.

I usually make cake doughnuts for the littles when they’re visiting because they’re quick and easy. And most of the time they like to help in the kitchen.

I’ve used these doughnut pans to make everything from

patriotic strawberry doughnuts

to spice cake

and even gingerbread doughnuts which were a surprising hit.

Doughnut Decorating Kit Inspiration…

Recently, I was on the phone with my niece chatting about the end of the school year and what it felt like to finish school while safe at home orders were in place.

Honestly, the kids have all handed the transition like champs.  I’m sure it hasn’t been easy on their parents to work full time while trying to home school. But the kids have all adjusted better than I expected.

So, to help them kick off the lazy days of summer and celebrate getting through the end of the school year without all the pomp and circumstance they’re used to, I decided to create my own version of Dunkin’s kit with a DIY Doughnut Hole Decorating Kit.

This DIY Doughnut Hole Decorating Kit is super easy to create and doesn’t take a lot of time to put together either.

In fact, I was literally able to buy everything on the same day which makes it a great gift idea without a lot of extra fuss.

DIY Doughnut Hole Decorating Kit Supplies:

After you have gathered all the supplies, assemble everything in a box, basket or bag.  The doughnut hole pans are pretty long. So, keep that in mind when you’re choosing a container.

What I like about this DIY Doughnut Hole Decorating Kit is that you can easily customize the cake mix, candies, and icing depending on the flavors your family likes best.

One of my nephews doesn’t like things that are super sweet. But he loves things that are sour.  So, I’ll probably add a small box of sour candy like Nerds in his basket.

The other thing I like is that doughnut holes are bite sized which makes them shareable and an activity everyone can create together.

It’s still hard to believe we’re on brink of summer already, you guys! I know it might not look exactly like what we were expecting at the beginning of the year. But I’m hoping we can all find special ways to celebrate.

These DIY Doughnut Hole Decorating Kits are a great start because they can be easily gifted and enjoyed no matter what the season!

Let us know if you decide to make your own version of this DIY Doughnut Hole Decorating Kit too.  Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
