One Room Challenge – The Plan

I can’t believe it’s time for the One Room Challenge! I’ve been dreaming and scheming about being a guest participant for this series for months. This biannual event is hosted by Calling it Home and each room makeover takes place over a 6 week period.

In September of 2014, we transitioned one of the bedrooms into my home office. At the time, I was so excited to have a space because I work from home. The budget was TINY and I wound up using a lot of items that didn’t have a place in my booth at The Pickers Market. While it was so nice to be able to close the door and sort of leave the work day behind, it wasn’t a very functional space and after a few months became really cluttered.

On a regular basis, I would clean my office and rearrange the treasure trail finds I brought home for the booth each week. But no matter what I did, nothing seemed to help. I even added a different shelving system to the closet in the hopes that it would help control the office chaos.

About a year into the new office space my booth business and client makeovers became more and more involved. I began using the breakfast table as a work surface and over time the office space started to look like a storage unit.

In December when I was setting goals for 2016, taking back my office space was at the top of the list. I want it to be pretty but more than anything I want it to be functional. Here’s a look at what I’m thinking…

and here’s a look at the quick sketch of the back wall which will be the feature wall. The bookcases we’re building won’t be as fancy as the one shown but I like how it has a stand alone style.

I’m not going to lie, you guys, the list of things that need to be accomplished in this space is so crazy long! I mean we need to move out the furniture, paint the walls, build the bookcases (thank you Dad!), build the mobile work station (thank you S!), paint the storage credenza, paint the desk and hutch, find accessories, buy a new rug, curtains and a light too. It’s going to be so much fun. Ok, the clean out part won’t be that much fun…but once it’s finished wowza!

I’m totally up for this challenge and I hope you guys are too. I’ll share all the project details and the progress we’re making each week. If you want to see what the other One Room Challenge participants are up to you can do that here.

I hope you guys all have a safe and happy weekend. See you on Facebook, on Instagram on Pinterest over the weekend and back here on Monday for another awesome week.

Many blessings,

CoCo
