Wire Laundry Basket Makeover

We’re sharing a wire laundry basket makeover today!

Years ago, I fell in love with French country farmhouse and cottage-style living.

So, naturally, when it came to updating our laundry room, my first thought was finding a vintage French laundry basket.

I actually already have one that I love.

It’s really old, though, and I don’t have the heart to put it through the daily wear and tear our family’s laundry needs require.

After coming up empty-handed online, at antique stores in our area, and at stores near the cabin, I finally decided to pivot and look for a wire laundry basket on wheels.

In the end, it was a solution that not only fit our needs perfectly but also allowed me to customize a wire laundry basket with a French country farmhouse feel.

Supplies:

• Wire Laundry Basket (I bought the medium basket in white)
• Rust-Oleum Spray Paint in Champagne Bronze
• Clear Coat Spray Paint, optional
• Spray Paint Safety Gear
• Tarp

Steps:

Gather your supplies.

I bought this wire laundry basket with wheels from Amazon in the medium size.

It comes in a box with lots of parts.

But, in my opinion, it was easy to put together.

Once your wire laundry basket is assembled, spray paint it in the color of your choice.

I used Champagne Bronze because it has a European farmhouse feel and complements the rest of the hardware in our laundry room.

As always, be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions on the paint can label, use caution and care, and paint in a well-ventilated area.

Allow the laundry basket to dry completely.

Add a clear coat of spray paint to further protect your wire laundry basket from wear and tear if desired.

Again, allow the laundry basket to dry completely according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Then enjoy!

What I love about this wire laundry basket is that it’s a good size, budget-friendly, and it’s easy to store in our laundry room.

It also has a handle and wheels, which makes it a breeze to use throughout the house.

And while I wouldn’t turn down an antique laundry basket, there’s something truly satisfying about creating a household staple that’s both pretty and practical.

This wire laundry basket has become one of my favorite little upgrades at home, and I hope it brings the same simple joy to your space too.
