Boo Baskets for Halloween
Spread Halloween cheer with Boo Baskets, a fun and creative tradition.
If you had a chance to read our post on how to easily age paper, you know my Mom and I have teamed up to surprise the littles by spreading Spooky Season cheer throughout the month of October.
Our first surprise on October 1st will be a Boo Bag filled with matching Halloween pajamas.
The second gift on October 13th will be a Boo Basket filled with little treats.
And the third surprise will be a Boo Breakfast on October 31st.
Honestly, I can hardly wait!

What Are Boo Baskets?
If you’re new to Boo Baskets, they’re a delightful tradition where friends, neighbors, or coworkers surprise each other with small bags or baskets filled with Halloween treats and festive goodies.
The idea is to spread joy and Halloween spirit by secretly leaving bags or baskets at someone’s doorstep, office, or personal space, along with a note encouraging the recipient to “pay it forward” by booing someone else.

What Goes Inside a Boo Boo Basket?
Boo Baskets can be as simple or elaborate as you like.
Here are a few things that are fun to include:
- Halloween-themed candies and chocolates
- Small toys, stickers, or party favors
- Mini pumpkins or decorative items
- Homemade treats or baked goods
- Fun Halloween pajamas, socks or accessories
- A spooky poem, friendly note or “You’ve Been Booed!” sign

How to Make a Boo Basket
- Pick a small bucket, basket, or festive bag that suits the Halloween theme.
- Fill it with a selection of treats, toys, accessories or decorations.
- Include a poem, printable or handwritten note explaining the Boo Basket tradition and encouraging your recipient to create and deliver a basket to another person.
- Deliver secretly which I know this is much easier said than done if you’re trying to surprise a neighbor, friend or loved one you don’t live with. Especially, given we all have cameras around our doors and property now. So, try your best to be sneaky.

Tips for Spreading the Fun
- Set a budget to keep things affordable for everyone. We found these items at Target and Dollar Tree,
- Choose allergy-friendly or non-food treats if needed.
- Get the whole neighborhood or office involved for a chain reaction of Halloween cheer.
- Include instructions or a sign so recipients know how to continue the tradition.

Creating Spooky Season Cheer…
Boo baskets are a simple yet meaningful way to build community spirit, especially during Halloween.
They create excitement for kids and adults alike, foster neighborly interactions, and can be customized to fit any group or budget.

Whether you’re looking to start a new tradition or add some extra fun to your Halloween season, Boo baskets are a great way to celebrate.
