Today, I want to share with you a bit of Christmas inspiration we gave one of the bedrooms.
Now, we don’t normally decorate any of the bedrooms for Christmas. We’re usually doing good to get the common areas decorated, the tree up, the porches decked and all the gifts wrapped and shipped in time. But one of my aunts suggested we all at least try decorating a bedroom way back in October so I decided to give it a go.
Before we left for Thanksgiving, you may remember we created this simple bed scarf from fabric we found on sale at our local Joann Store. This piece of fabric pretty much set the tone for our entire Christmas color palette and decorating scheme because it felt festive and neutral all at the same time.
While we were at Joann’s I also found this black flannel window pane fabric with a bit of red in it which seemed like a great compromise. You guys know how much I love white so it would be a white or blush inspired Christmas for us every year if it were up to me ha ha. It IS Christmas though and I do like to share, so, red it is!
Obviously, we have to keep it pretty simple on the nightstand with all those pillows on the bed, you know? I repurposed a thrifted picture into a chalkboard a few weeks ago because I fell in love with the gilded frame. It’s been one of those pieces that has been super simple and easy to use in various ways around the house.
We had a rustic inspired Christmas as few years ago and used these wreaths. I love the red berries with a little bit of “snow.”
We gave this dresser a total makeover as part of the One Room Challenge a few months ago and its still one of our favorite pieces.
It really didn’t need a lot of decorating – just a few simple touches.
One of our priorities during that 6-week project was to create a seating area in the bedroom to give it a bit of a lounge feel. I can honestly say, it was one of the best decisions we made because this area is used every day now.
I wish you guys could feel how soft this red throw is – oh my word – it’s like snuggling up with a bunny!
I keep saying I’m going to do a post on the sconces we installed shortly after the One Room Challenge. They were such an easy add that gave us a lot of value for very little money.
Have you guys finished wrapping all of your presents yet? I’m still waiting on a few things I ordered to arrive and I have a couple of things to pick up at the store. We’re heading out of town again next week for our first Christmas celebration so I know I need to get on the stick.
Speaking of getting on the stick, I guess adding a bit of Christmas cheer in this bedroom was taking too long because I found this little lady snuggled up in the corner.
