From the Front Porch

Today has me thinking about military families across the globe as we celebrate Veteran’s Day in the US. I can hardly believe my dad has been retired for a little over 2 years now. It seems like just yesterday he was trying to decide how he would spend his retirement. I’m excited to say he’s definitely found his groove traveling with my mom, making bunk beds for the grands and spending time on the golf course. He has the sock tan line to prove it and everything he he!

While our life as a military family was really tough at times, I’m always grateful for the life it gave us. A big thank you to all of our men, women and families that have bravely served over the years. We definitely honor you today.

Are you guys ready for Thanksgiving? It will be here in just two short weeks. I know! If you’re still looking for gorgeous holiday tablescape ideas be sure to check out this blog hop featuring Shades of Blue Interiors. So beautiful!

If you’re looking for mantel ideas that can be easily transitioned from one holiday to the next without a lot of fuss this contest from One Kings Lane had some beautiful entries. Channel Cabin Chic a la @osmonddesigns is my favorite.

If you’re stressed about not having your walls planked with shiplap yet, you may want to consider this idea. Bonus, it’s free!

If you need more help with your floors than your walls, can we just talk about how far decorative and vinyl tiles have come. This post from Apartment Therapy has me wishing for an outdoor option.

Curious about what to do with all of those Thanksgiving leftovers? Try this yummy recipe

Do you guys dress up for Thanksgiving dinner or keep it casual? This sweater is a really pretty one if you dress up. I would take that skirt in a heartbeat too!

If you’re keeping it casual, try this one.

You can’t go wrong with a camel colored pea coat…just saying.

If you plan on hitting the mall or big box stores on Black Friday, do yourself a favor and get a cross body bag so you can shop hands free or carry a latte. I’ve carried a bag similar to this one for years and never tire of the style.

My mom still makes us all wear matching holiday pajamas each year so as soon as I saw these I thought of her. I’m so excited even the dogs can join in now!
