From the Front Porch

Happy Friday from the front porch you guys! How has your week been? I hope it’s been a good one.  We’re in full blown hurricane prep mode over here and I know so many of you are too.  We’re good with the gas situation now and have enough provisions too.  I hear calories don’t count during a hurricane for those of you that have loaded up on junk food, wink wink, we have too.  Our area has been totally out of bottled water so I’ve never been more thankful for our bathtubs. They are filled up and ready to go!

We went to sleep under voluntary evacuation orders and woke up under mandatory evacuation orders and as you guys know that’s a game changer.  We have the hurricane shutters up and ready so we’re as prepared as we can be.  It’s been so hard to take a “wait and see” approach but I know that’s all part of hurricane season.

I’m sending all of you in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas lots of hugs, love and prayers.  A lot of you are checking in which I really appreciate. I definitely want to know you guys are safe.  I know the roads have been crazy so please be careful as you’re traveling.

Here’s a look at scenes from our week (before we started prepping for the storm)…

* One of my favorite days on the river.

* THE easiest look to pull together quickly on the weekends: striped shirt, skinny jeans, statement necklace, neutral bag and your favorite flats. You can literally go from the soccer fields to lunch with friends to the grocery store all in the same day.

* Currently on my Christmas list.

* I’ve been having such a hard time finding makeup that will stay in place given the heat, humidity and our crazy 12 or 14-hour a day schedule. Normally I use Urban Decay Naked Neutrals Eye Shadow but I’ve recently tried Revlon’s ColorStay Crème Eye Shadow in 705 and 710 + Milani Eye Shadow Eye Primer in 01 Nude and so far it’s holding up really well. Also, I’ve tried Dr.Teal’s Epsom Salts with coconut oil and oh my word you guys, it smells so good. You can probably find all four of these products at most drugstores like CVS or big box stores like Target.

*Flipping through oldie but goodie magazines I’ve saved over the years for a bit of Autumn inspiration. One a side note, best snickerdoodles ever!

As you guys know we had to evacuate during Hurricane Matthew and were without power and access to our home for several days.  I fully plan to be back here next week as long as we have power.  On Monday, we’ll talk about how to style a coffee table with the fabulous ladies of our Back to Basics group. Tuesday, we’ll share fall mantel ideas. If you’re a subscriber, I’ll see you at our special spot on Wednesday. If you’re not yet, we’d love to have you. Thursday, I’ll share how to give new pots the look of aged patina. On Friday, we’ll be back here with scenes from our week and all our favorites from around the web. It’s going to be fun!

If you’re in the path of the storm, I’ll definitely be praying for you. I know this is a stress filled time for so many people.  If you’re not, I hope you guys all have a peace filled and relaxing weekend. I can’t wait to see you back here on Monday. Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo
