From the Front Porch: Goodbye January, Hello February

Hello from the front porch sweet friends and welcome to the Goodbye January, Hello February Edition of this weekly series.

After the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it’s been amazing to slow down and savor some of our favorite things about winter.

This month, we’ve donated to organizations helping LA, celebrated 3 birthdays, braced for winter weather, waited for snowflakes to fall in Florida, ate lots of cake, cozied up by the fire with new books, worked on a bedroom refresh, cleaned out closets and drawers in the primary bedroom and bathroom, organized purses, tweaked our nightly routines, made time to craft, created a 25 in ‘25 list, celebrated the Lunar New Year with a merry dinner and attended one of the largest lantern festivals in the US.

I also finally got the tree down and put away which feels like a win given I keep it up until my birthday every year.

I just adore all those twinkling lights.

Now that the house is officially back in order and our weekly schedules are settling a bit, I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to continue to make the winter season a special one.

I hope you’ve had a chance to make some fun memories as well.

As we move into February, I encourage you to think about how you can craft your days in a way that allows you to show up for yourself, the projects you want to complete, the special events you want to commemorate, the positive habits you want to continue, and the wins you want to celebrate this month.

Sometimes all it takes is searching the local events page in your town for ideas.

Or looking through your calendar and asking yourself, “Where can I fit in a trip to an art gallery, an antique show, a night at the symphony or the ballet?”

Other times it’s giving yourself something to look forward to like a room refresh, a girl’s weekend, or a couple’s retreat.

Maybe you need to check into a hotel and give yourself quiet time to finally start that book you’ve always wanted to write, to enjoy a spa day and rest, to try a new hobby, or to figure out what you really want out of life.

No matter how you choose to dive into the month, I encourage you to make time for what matters most to you.

After all, the days are going to pass by anyway and there’s no time like the present to do the things that make your heart sing.

Seasonal Project Ideas:

  • Rachel from the Ponds Farmhouse recently updated her website and it looks amazing! She is one of the most creative people I know so don’t miss these Valentine’s Day topiaries.
  • I’ve been making Valentine’s Day cards this week and love the one Anna from Sky Lark House recently made. They’re so simple to create you can easily use them throughout the year and for multiple occasions too.
  • Have you seen the neck warmers Mary from Life at Bella Terra made? They’re so pretty and would make a fabulous Valentine’s Day gift idea.
  • Losing it in the best possible way over these DIY heart shaped tea bags from Norma of Paint Me Pink. It would be fun to include these in a cozy Valentine’s inpsired gift basket.
  • I made a version of these for the littles a few months ago and they went bananas. I love how Kim from Cottage in the Mitten dressed hers up for Valentine’s Day and I can’t wait to try them too.

  • Mid Calf Boots (took these on holiday recently and they kept my feet warm)
  • Winter Coat (it gave me the giggles when I showed up wearing this jacket and my sister and bestie S were wearing it too)
  • Tunic (I saw tunics similar to this one everywhere while on holiday)
  • Butterluxe Leggings (S raves about these and these Fleece Lined Leggings would be great if you live in cold weather climate)
  • Scarf (currently in my cart as I realized on the trip my other scarves were too short)
  • Booties (excited for these to arrive)
  • Winter Pants (these kept me warm and the legs are wide enough for boots)
  • Faux Fur Jacket (I don’t have any place to wear this but wanted to share in case you do)
  • Zip Pullover (one of my girlfriends loved this pullover so much she bought one for herself after seeing it on her husband)
  • Winter Socks (I’ve been wearing these almost every day)
  • Slippers (these seem soft and cozy, I’m excited to try them)
  • Base Layer Set (have these in both black and white)
  • Running Socks (considering new running socks as mine all need to be refreshed, I ususally wear Thorlos)
  • Pullover (this comes in so many colors, I love the green, navy and white)
  • Lounge Set (this comes in so many colors as well and is an easy travel set)
  • Sneakers (recently added these to my wishlist)

That’s all for now! As always, we appreciate you so much and can’t wait to share more with you next week.

Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo

    1. It was definitely a wild month, Donna, but also a fun one. I can share more about my 25 in ’25 list if you like. It’s a great excerise for people who like bucket list style goals because it takes the pressure off a bit and allows you to put everything from “Travel to Europe” to “Take More Candid Photos.” The pictures of snow in Florida have been bananas. People are still talking about it up here which makes me so happy. Especially now since it’s starting to feel like spring! Sendeing you hugs and hoping your birthday month is good to you, CoCo
