From the Front Porch
Happy Friday, from the front porch, you guys!
We hope the month of June has been good to you as we prepare to welcome all the exciting things July has to offer.
Looking back, May and June felt a lot like January and February. Without even realizing it, we seem to have settled back into our pre-pandemic life.
We celebrated Mother’s Day, a sisters summit, my sweet neice’s gradutation, Memorial Day, finished the master bedroom refresh, hosted my niece for a craft weekend, my Dad’s milestone birthday (twice), an outdoor event at Renningers, lots of progress at Bliss Barracks and finally celebrated Father’s Day.
While these were richly blessed events, they were all crammed into a 7 week time frame and I can’t even tell you how many times I had to look at the calendar to figure out what day it was this week ?
I have just 2 big things to finish before the 4th of July and then fingers crossed I’ll be ready for a slow down.
Have you decided how you’re going to celebrate yet?

We’re finishing up Jennie Allen’s Get Out Of Your Head: Stopping the Spiral of Toxic Thoughts for our June book of the month. I have mixed feelings about it and I know several of you feel the same way.
For now, I’ve moved onto July’s book, The Art of Showing Up: How to be There for Yourself and Your People by Rachel Wilkerson Miller in the hope I’ll be able to bridge the gap between what works in theory and what works in real life.
On a side note, I’ve already started reading a bit of this one and there is some salty language so I just wanted to let you know in advance as some might find it offensive.
We’re also reading, Be The Bridge: Pursuing God’s Heart for Racial Reconciliation by Latasha Morrison.
In August, we’ll read Love Does by Bob Goff.
