From the Front Porch

Happy Thursday from the front porch! I hope your week has been a fun one as we prepare to ease into the summer season.

I can still remember the excitement of the last day of school.  Even in college and graduate school, knowing the last exam and final paper had been turned in felt like a huge relief.

More often than not, on the way home I’d stop for an ice cream cone and let myself dream about having a wide-open summer.

Because my Dad was in the military and we didn’t live near family growing up, my parents always made summers a big deal.

Whether we were going on vacation, heading to sleep away camp, squirreling away time at the beach, or spending time at the farm they were very intentional about how we spent our summer season.

Don’t get me wrong, we still had chores to do, books to read, manners to mind, and projects to help with but all the pressures that came with a busy school year seemed to melt away almost immediately the moment that last bell rang.

A Summer Season Announcement…

I feel a similar way today as Team Crowned Goat kicks off the summer season.  We’ve rented the cutest house in the tiniest town to give ourselves some space to rest our bodies, reset our goals, and refresh our hearts and minds.

While we’ll still be working on the bedroom and bathroom refresh as part of the One Room Challenge and taking the time to update the blog (which is proving far more time-consuming than I had even imagined), I’m beyond excited for the opportunity.

So, for the month of June, we’ll be sliding in your inbox only on Fridays.

This will give us a chance to fully concentrate and catch up on all the things we’ve had to put off these past few months, put new systems in place and also allow us the chance to update and create new content.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t nervous about it all given I’m the sole content creator and administrator of this business.

I’m definitely nervous.

But I also know I can’t expect you to live a courageous and purpose-filled life if I’m not willing to come alongside you and do the same.

Even when it feels scary.

  1. Good for you, CoCo, to know when it is time to take a blogging break to catch up on all of your projects. Your entire team is sure to end up refreshed after a break. I’m looking forward to your room reveals once they are completed. Thank you so much for including my red, white and blue cookies this week. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!!

    1. Thank you so much, Paula! I’m definitely nervous about it all but we’ve come to the point we just need some extra white space and free time to refresh. Especially, where all the technical and backside business of the blog is concerned. I’ve said on more than one occasion this week I feel like we’re living in a townhouse we own in Portland and are building a new house in Miami. Trying to get everything moved over without too much disruption is not for the faint of heart ? As far as the bedroom makeover is concerned we’ve laded on the prettiest shade of pink so things are looking up. Sending you and Sherman lots of hugs for a Memorial Day weekend you won’t forget. We’ll be celebrating with your cookies, CoCo

  2. Congrats on the time off. Hope you spend it well and feel refreshed when you get back!

  3. I know you need this break to regroup and get things done.

I’ll be here every Friday and I know your blog will be beautiful.

    Looking forward to it all.

  4. I’m so happy to hear that you are taking some time to get the things done that you need to work on. I am slowing down these days and so nervous about it, yet know it’s the right thing to do. Sounds like you have plenty of projects that you’re working on! Have a great Memorial Day weekend my friend.

  5. Ah yes! A website overhaul is not for the faint of heart. I did that not too long ago and it was nerve wracking, but I am so pleased with the results! I finally just finished making all the major updates and am happy to be done. Until next time!

I love these ’round up’ type posts. I always learn so much and find new things! Thanks for sharing!

Enjoy your (much needed) time to regroup and move forward.
    xoxo

  6. I really do love how your patriotic tablescape turned out. It really was so lovely! Have so much fun getting away and getting refreshed!!
