Habits for Purposeful Living Challenge: Week Four Recap

We’re sharing the habits for purposeful living challenge week four recap today and this week is all about self-image.

As many of you know, self-image encompasses so many things from your thoughts on your appearance, to your personality traits to your strengths and weaknesses.

It’s how you see yourself and show up in the world based on what you think is possible.

And while our self-image has been forming since childhood, it can be positive, negative, or both and influenced by the people in our lives.

The beauty is that we have the power to change our self-image at any time.

Unfortunately, most of us get caught up in looking to our past for evidence of who we are instead of looking to the future for the person we want to become.

A simple way to combat this, though, is to identify and embody the character traits of your best self.

That way, you’ll be so familiar with this new version of you, it will seem natural as you become her.

So, think about what the best version of you looks like…

  • How is she living?
  • What kinds of decisions is she making?
  • What is her mindset like?
  • What does her home look like?
  • What is she eating?
  • How is she taking care of herself?
  • What kind of exercise does she enjoy?
  • What is she wearing?
  • Who are her friends?
  • What kinds of activities does she enjoy?
  • What kind of car does she drive?
  • What does she smell like?
  • How does she prioritize her own needs?

Then start living in alignment with that version of yourself.

One decision, one choice, one moment at a time.

Here’s a look at our Habits for Purposeful Living Challenge Week Four Recap…

Week Four: Goal

To embrace the self-image of the women we’re becoming.

What Worked Well This Week?

Mom – Remembering that self-image covers so many areas. It really makes a difference when you’re intentional with your focus.

CoCo – Using “I am” statements, being more conscientious when putting outfits together, and being measured with the responses my “future self” would make.

What Did Not Work Well?

Mom – I was short on time and felt like I rushed through my reading which made me feel like I didn’t absorb the information as well as I could have.

CoCo – Trying to balance Holy Week with a birthday week while simultaneously trying to get things done and feel like I had a few days off was harder than I expected it to be. Just typing that out makes me realize how unrealistic my expectations were!

What Surprised You Most About This Week?

Mom – Seeing how excited the ladies were to get their Easter baskets. It made me feel good to see how much they appreciated them.

CoCo – How grounding these habits, routines and rituals can be even on busy and hectic days.

In the past, I would have skipped the entire routine because I couldn’t do all of it.

I realize now that doing an abbreviated version helps to give the day structure even on days my schedule did not feel like my own.

What Are Three Ways You Would Describe Each Other?

Mom – CoCo is organized, creative and giving.

CoCo – I could choose a million ways to describe my Mom but loving, kind and creative come to mind first.

What Did You Choose from the Weekly Habits Menu?

Mom – Made Easter baskets for the ladies in my Bible study and at the nursing home where I volunteer, bought a few surprises for my sister who is fighting breast cancer, fueled my body with good food, walked, found quiet places to meditate each day, prioritized a medical appointment, dressed with my best self in mind each day, turned negative thoughts around, got a facial and a fresh haircut.

CoCo – Listened to a new podcast and found a new YouTube channel to explore, made the house festive for a birthday party, attended a day of birthday events, tried 2 new restaurants, bought a few new pieces for a summer capsule wardrobe, found a summer fragrance, went to the bookstore, shopped for a client, pressure washed the front porch and the porch benches, installed new fencing in the backyard, and commemorated Holy Week.

What We Read This Week:

Mom – Let Them, Queen Elizabeth, and Finding Your Own North Star

CoCo – Lent in Plain Sight, Let Them, Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway

What We Ate This Week:

Mom – I did well with my healthy food habits this week and tried to incorporate more fish into my diet.

CoCo – We ate out a lot due to birthday and Easter celebrations, so I tried to make healthy choices along the way.

What We’re Looking Forward to Next Week:

Mom – Next week we’re focusing on our environment, and I’m looking forward to changing up the porch a bit and going to a new place.

CoCo – I’m planning to create more calming spaces around the house, a bath salts bar, and contining to work on the front porch.

As always, we hope this post has helped.
