Affirmations, May Goals Update and a Video

It’s been a wild week you guys but I’m excited to share a few affirmations, our May goals update and a new video. You can check out our April video here if you missed it!

I know this time of year can be crazy busy as the days are filled with transition from graduation to preparing for college to end of the year parties to prepping for summer camp and all the adventures summer entails. How are you guys holding up?

I feel like I’ve been in full blown caregiver mode this month as we’ve nursed our sweet dog Jelly Bean back to health and we’re currently nursing my bestie S, who runs The Crowned Goat website back to health as well. I never imagined the month of May would be sandwiched between two surgeries but that is our reality right now.  The first week post-op has been much tougher than I think any of us expected but we’re working through each day.

I’m not even going to lie there have been some rough moments in May. Thankfully, one of my aunts sent me a text to gently remind me to, “remember the truth in the midst of a stressful or overwhelming circumstance because sometimes our emotions can get the best of us and betray us.”

A bit of tough love but wise words we’ve found to be spot on this month.

In addition to holding on to the truth during those stressful moments, I’ve also made it a priority to surround myself with as many positive things as I can. Really simple things like positive songs, tv shows, movies, books, magazines, phone calls, thoughts, prayers and affirmations. It’s not always easy but it has made a difference especially during those moments I feel in over my head.

You don’t have to have a stressful or overwhelming circumstance to use daily affirmations though. They can act as a quick prompt to get you back on track with your goals, to get you motivated first thing in the morning or to help you remember why you even started in the first place. And the bonus is you can use affirmations any time of the day.

Here are 5 of the 10 affirmations I shared in the video…

  1. Prove them wrong.
  2. Decide you can – a great reminder from Laura Casey
  3. I choose to invest in myself and others today.
  4. Negative thoughts only have the power I allow them.
  5. My potential to succeed is limitless.

If our thoughts lead to words and our words to action and our actions lead to habits, doesn’t it make sense we should keep our thoughts as positive as possible?

I think so too!

June is a great time to do a mid-year check in with yourself, your family, and your team. It allows you to reassess what is working and what is not working. It lets you analyze what you’ve accomplished from January to June and sets you up to achieve the goals you hope to accomplish from June to December.

As a perfectionist, I know looking at the data (what you’ve actually accomplished vs what you haven’t accomplished yet) is not always easy. But nothing can calm the fear like black and white facts or data or truth. At least then you can make an educated and informed decision about what you really need to do in order to achieve your goals. It might be as simple as cutting them down to a more manageable size.

If you had a chance to read this post you already know this summer is not what we were expecting at all, which isn’t a bad thing. I’m full of hope and promise it will wind up being exactly what we need because it affords us the chance to embrace a summer of simple pleasures. A chance to slow down and rest and reconnect with our why and foster new opportunities and plan for growth and a chance to lay the foundation for big dreams.

Team Crowned Goat will be taking all of next week off as we continue to navigate this time of transition. After that we’ll be embracing our summer schedule of 2-3 posts per week (mostly Tuesdays and Thursdays). We’re looking forward to updating the website, filming new videos, creating subscriber only features, being a part of educational groups and putting the finishing touches on some really special ideas.

Whatever you have planned this summer, I hope it’s filled with adventures you’ll always remember. Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo

    1. I appreciate you so much, Angie, thank you! I wish all the time we lived closer. I would be curled up on your couch all the time. Sending you lots of love and hugs, CoCo

  2. CoCo – you are always the voice of reason, calm before the storm and beacon of light from the lighthouse. We are almost too afraid to watch this newest video. This has been an emotional 1/2 year of disappointments and heartbreak. We maintain a stiff upper lip and great attitude all the while making sure to take care of ourselves emotionally and spiritually.

We hope and pray JB and S are on the road to recovery – and that you are doing well too! we love you all 🙂

    1. You guys are the sweetest, thank you! I’m totally with you it is hard to do a mid-year check in sometimes but I’m glad we’re able to rally enough to do it. No matter what the setbacks have been from January to June I’m fully confident we can change course and make a difference in our June to December outcome. Please know that I am cheering you on from the sidelines and fully believe in your many talents and gifts. You were born to be fabulous. Love and Hugs, CoCo
