One Room Challenge – Progress Update Week 3

You guys, I can’t even believe we’re already at week 3 of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda of Calling it Home! I’ve heard so many previous participants say week 3 is the hardest week and now I know why. You’ve been working like a total crazy pants living and breathing this project for weeks…you’re so close to being done…but you are tired…SO SO SO tired. Here’s a look at how things are going…

In the grand scheme of things, we’ve made a lot of progress. The dresser we’re using as storage is finished.

The bookcases were painted and installed this week.

The work island is ready to go and totally awesome.

We unrolled the rug and I loved it!

The room is actually starting to look like an office, which is so exciting. This week, we also decided to give the inventory closet a little makeover too…I know, what are we thinking! I just want to do as much as we can to make the entire space as efficient as possible. I mean, you guys saw how crazy that closet was…it needs to be organized something fierce. I’m going to keep the shelves in place because they are sturdy and hold a lot but I plan to now use one side for inventory and the other shelf system for craft and paint supplies. I’ve got a lot to declutter in here as well.

I’ve ordered the stools for the work island so they should be here next week and the light should be on it’s way too. We’ve been working this entire time without a light…can you believe it? Thank goodness for that picture window. Speaking of which, I need to figure out what to do about window treatments. We’re literally $100 from reaching our budget goal. I know that seems like a lot but I’m thinking the inventory/craft closet is going to eat up a good portion of that money. You guys know how much I love baskets and labeling things so I’m really going to have to get creative with the window treatments.

Also, I can’t remember if I mentioned it or not but my computer monitor is 5 inches larger than the desk/hutch allows for so I’m going to have to work that out issue too. I need to find a way to raise the hutch about 6 inches without making it look like it’s been raised 6 inches…does that makes sense?

Finally, we need to do a bit more shopping for accessories than I had previously anticipated. I thought we had enough stuff (my entire dining room table is covered) but we seem to be missing some statement pieces so I’m heading to look for those next week too. My mom picked up this amazing horse for me so I’m hoping we can find a way to use it in the space.

It’s going to be another busy but fun few days. I hope you guys all have a safe and happy weekend. See you on Facebook, on Instagram on Pinterest over the weekend and back here on Monday for another awesome week.

Many blessings,

CoCo

  1. CoCo – you’re room is coming together beautifully! Love everything you have done so far. We can totally relate from the “tired” front! Projects always seem easier on paper LOL Cheers to a great weekend!

  2. You’ve made amazing progress!! I’m so excited to see how you organize your closet. I have the same issue of types of stuff in my basement (inventory and craft supplies) and I can’t, for the life of me, figure out the best way to organize it all without it getting in the way. Have fun shopping – that’s the fun part of all of this, right?

  3. I love it so far! that rug is gorgeous, I saw it when you posted it on Instagram. Also, the decor on the shelves are looking great! What a great space it’s going to be!

  4. I love how things are coming together for you! Your room is looking so awesome! The rug is to die for. The horse is stunning. You know how I feel about French furniture…Love it! Sorry if I’m gushing but I love the direction this is all going and I’m super excited about seeing the reveal. I feel your pain on the window treatment. I found some fabric I thought I wanted to use for curtains, but at $28 a yard times 6 yards…ummmm no. I’m going drop cloth with a little bit of extra detail.

You should be so proud of your progress!
