One Room Challenge – Progress Update

It’s been an incredibly busy week working on projects related to my home office makeover and the One Room Challenge but I’m really excited to give you a progress update today. Here’s a quick look at the office before…

In one respect I feel like we are getting so much accomplished but I know we still have a long way to go. Week one, found us prepping the walls and clearing out the room to be painted. I can’t even tell you how messy my house is right now. I tried to have one area (the dining room) be the staging area but there are piles of stuff everywhere. I know, it’s crazy!

We painted the accent wall in Valspar’s Hot Stone and it looks so good. This color is the only color I’ve ever used without trying it out on the walls first. It’s definitely not something that I would recommend ha ha. I just went with my gut and this time, it all worked out.

The other 3 walls are painted in Valspar’s Quail Egg and it brightened up the room completely.

It took 5 tries but I finally got the layered look I was after with this dresser I plan to make a storage credenza. I thought I was going to repurpose the existing filing cabinets but at the last minute I ran into one of my favorite charity shops and the dresser was waiting on me. It has 10 drawers, which I’m really excited about. I need to finish putting all of my craft supplies and paperwork in there because that will help eliminate some of the piles currently hanging around the house and on the floor. I also need to decide what I want to do with the hardware. The gold seems a little too flashy for me.

I painted the desk and hutch this week too. It feels like just the right size for my laptop and office supplies. I love the way this space turned out but between you and me I’m a little worried there’s not going to be enough room between the shelves for my monitor.

The rug I ordered has arrived, which was so exciting. Until, I realized I had to haul that thing up to the house by myself. I was seriously wishing we had a team of mules to help out. I was a huffin and a puffin for sure.

We’ve started working on the mobile work island. This was step 1. Have I told you that my house is in total disarray? total. disarray.

My parents have been spending a bit of time at Loblolly Manor and my mom picked up a couple of pieces of ironstone on her last shopping trip. My dad has been spending lots of time at Lowes finding just the right piece of trim and the corbels for the bookcases. I can’t wait to see them. Once he gets them finished, I’ll be headed down to Bliss Barracks to paint. He has a big truck so I’m hoping he not only builds things but delivers too.

We’re taking off part of the weekend to celebrate two big birthdays so it will be nice to step away from everything and enjoy each other. I hope you guys all have a safe and happy weekend. See you on Facebook, on Instagram on Pinterest over the weekend and back here on Monday for another awesome week.

Many blessings,

CoCo
