Places to Buy Affordable Vintage Inspired Art Online
Today, we’re sharing 10 places to buy affordable vintage inspired wall art online. If you had a chance to check out our breakfast nook refresh reveal, you saw the vintage inspired wall art we chose for that space.
Sometimes, I struggle to find just the right piece of art but I lucked up and found the equestrian poster while searching online for a client. Thankfully, I knew immediately it would be the perfect fit for the breakfast nook refresh.
I know it’s not always that easy though.
A few weeks ago, I was helping my Mom pull together a few design boards for several of the rooms at Bliss Barracks. Honestly, almost all of them could use a wall art refresh. Her style is similar to mine in that she loves all things vintage and antique.
We searched multiple vendors while at Renningers, then at thrift stores, charity shops and at an antique mall too. But over and over again, we kept coming up empty handed. Trying to find a piece of vintage inspired wall art that was affordable, the right size and complemented our color palette was tough.
I finally suggested we search online. Talk about looking for a needle in a haystack! It felt like there were a million images to sort through. Before we knew it, we were down the online wall art rabbit hole.
In an effort to save you a bit of time, we’re sharing 10 places to buy vintage inspired wall art online…
Great Big Canvas
GBC is the place I’ve found most of my vintage inspired prints. You can easily search by subject, style, room, collection or artist. The other feature I really like is once you choose your art, you can see what it would look like as a canvas or matted and framed.
If you already have a frame you love, you can choose a poster print or a canvas, both of which are reasonably priced.
Art.com
This website is similar to Great Big Canvas in that it’s affordable and easy to search. They also offer over 200 frame styles, plus canvas, wood mount, and art on metal.
Because there are millions of prints to search, you’ll want to make sure to be as specific as you can when you’re browsing by genre, subject, or color.
Minted
I haven’t shared the entire room makeover just yet, but we purchased a vintage inspired piece of wall art from Minted for one of the bedrooms at my childhood home, Loblolly Manor.
What we love about Minted is that everything is designed by an independent artist. In addition to wall art, they offer wall murals, textiles, stationery, gifts and even fabric by the yard.
Etsy
Etsy sells millions of unique items. This is another website where it pays to be specific when you’re searching for antique or vintage inspired wall art. Most of the shops are comprised of independent makers or vendors and are relatively affordable depending on what you’re looking for.
Be sure to read the fine print so you’ll know exactly what you’re buying before you make a purchase. Etsy sells everything from original art to antique oil paintings to digital photography downloads.
Ebay
When searching on Ebay for wall art, you can search by posters, paintings, textile art and art prints. It might seem overwhelming at first. The fact you can narrow down your search even further to date of creation, originality, subject, style and size is really helpful though.
Charish
Shopping online at Charish is like shopping in real life at an upscale antique store. The website is user friendly. You can search by original art and prints, by artist, by painting style, and wall accents.
On the day I was putting together this post, they had added 1, 139 new items. Honestly, you never really know what they’re going to offer each day which makes it fun. I’ve seen horse paintings for as little as $40 and other paintings that we were well into the thousands.
Juniper Print Shop
You can easily shop Juniper Print Shop by their product collections. They offer digital downloads and prints in multiple sizes some that you can even pair with frames from IKEA. The digital downloads start at a very affordable $20.
Society 6
I first learned about Society 6’s vintage inspired wall art through Miss Mustard Seed because she sells the prints of her vintage inspired paintings there. Society 6 also offers framed art prints, canvas prints, wall hangings, metal prints, wood wall art and posters.
You can search over 18 different categories for wall art including vintage art prints.
20×200
This online shop is new to me, but they offer a carefully curated collection of affordable limited-edition photography prints and works by emerging, established and legendary artists.
They are also affordable, and you can easily search by size, color, artist and style.
Amazon
While Amazon has a large selection of wall art, I’ve found you need to be extremely specific to find exactly what you’re looking for or it can become overwhelming very quickly.
I’m including it here because it’s one of the only places I’ve been able to find certain historical or vintage black and white photographs in poster sized prints. And for that reason alone, it’s worth a look. They also have a good selection of reasonably priced fruit and botanical prints.
Things to Keep in Mind When Buying Vintage Inspired Wall Art Online
- Use very specific keywords if you’re utilizing the website’s search bar feature. For example, using the words “vintage horse art” could yield thousands of images whereas using the words “vintage horse racing poster” could help narrow down the search significantly.
- Nail down your color palette before you search. It’s another easy way to help you focus on what colors, subject matter or style will look best in your space.
- Know the size and scale of the vintage inspired wall art you’re looking for from the beginning. This will help eliminate those pieces and options that don’t meet your needs.
- Read the fine print. It goes without saying, it’s all in the fine print. Before placing your order make sure you fully understand what you’re buying from the color, to the frame, to the delivery date to the price. It will save you so much time (and maybe some frustration) in the long run.

I appreciate you, Linda, thank you so much! Hugs, CoCo
This post was very helpful Coco, thank you for all the great places to look. Searching for art online is as hard as searching for rugs online. Thanks
ha ha I know just what you mean, Bonnie, they can both be very frustrating. I’m so glad you liked this post. Let me know if you need anything else. I’m happy to help! Hugs, CoCo
Thank you for this resource Coco. We dont live in a town where there are thrift stores or antique malls. Its nice to know I can get the look now too.
Believe me, Sarah, I totally get it. My childhood home is in a very small town that doesn’t offer a lot in the way of thrift stores or antique malls either so I know how difficult this can be. Hopefully, these online resources will help you find what you need. Hugs, CoCo
You’re so right, it’s hard to find the right pieces and just hit and miss. Most of my pieces have been from flea markets and antique shops. I’ve found a few pieces online, so thanks for reminding me of all the great places to search!
I appreciate it, Debra, thank you! Shopping for treasures like wall art at antique malls, flea markets and outdoor events is always so much fun. We’ve found some really cool pieces too. I never realized vendors had a season until we were looking to finish up a few details on my childhood home and wall art was really hard to find. Thankfully, we were able to source a few things online. I hope your week has been a good one, hugs, CoCo
CoCo – thank you so much for revealing these art sources. You have introduced us to a couple of sites that we had not heard of before. Now it’s our turn to go down the rabbit hole! Much love!
Oh my word, you guys, I could get lost in those sites for hours! They really do have so many great options to offer. Hugs and happy hunting, CoCo
Thanks for sharing so many options for purchasing vintage style art! I have been wanting to start collecting vintage art so when I saw your post in the Homestyle Gathering link party I just had to check it out! Thanks again!
You are so welcome, Cynthia! I know it’s not always easy to find authentic vintage/antique art or even vintage inspired art sometimes so every extra bit of help a good thing. Happy hunting and hope you have the best day, CoCo
