This Week’s Tip Sheet: Decluttering and Organizing Your Email Inbox
Hello, beautiful friends. Welcome to Week 21 of the Simplified and Organized Home Challenge.
This week we’re working to declutter, organize and simplify our email inbox.
And if you haven’t started already, now is a great time to take a few minutes each day to make your email inbox more efficient.
Below, we’re sharing a few of our favorite tips and tricks to help keep you organized.
Now on to this week’s Tip Sheet!

This Week’s Tip Sheet…
Quote of the Week:
“Good communication is the bridge between confusion and clarity.” ~ Nat Turner
This Week’s Big To-Do’s:
- Declutter, Organize and Simplify Your Email Inbox
- Plant Something
- Support a Local Dog Rescue or Charity
- Participate in World Meditation Day
- Look for a Lucky Penny
- Plan or Take a Road Trip
This Week’s Tidy Tip:
- Carve out a designated time (or a few designated times) to check and/or respond to emails each day. That way, you can fully focus on other tasks without being distracted.
- Find an email system that works for you and is easy to maintain.
- Delete emails that are no longer needed or are not important, so your inbox stays manageable.
- Archive emails you want to reference later.
- Organize, sort and categorize emails into folders or subfolders, so they’ll be easier to find, and you’ll have them when you need them.
- You can use folders for specific family members, projects, events, appointments, online shopping, or bills. You can also create folders reminding you to take action, review, wait, or reference.
- Unsubscribe to promotions or newsletters you no longer find helpful or valuable.
- Set up filters that will help automatically organize your email for you if you can.
- Find a trusted third-party app to help you simplify bulk email inbox actions when needed.
This Week’s Wellness Tip:
When it comes to communication there’s no doubt that emails, text messages and dm’s have dominated how we relay and convey information.
And while I’m thankful those mediums have helped to make our lives more efficient, there’s something about the deeply human connection that comes from face-to-face communication, machines cannot replace.
After all, our body language, tone of voice, attitude and appearance speak volumes.
So, remember to:
- Eliminate or mitigate distractions so you can focus on your conversation.
- Look at the person you’re speaking to.
- Learn about nonverbal communication and how to read it effectively.
- Be clear in your message.
- Take turns speaking.
- Speak at an appropriate level.
- Practice active listening.
- Ask for clarification when you need it.
- Take time to pause and reflect before you respond.
As always, I hope this week’s Tip Sheet has helped.

I loved your tips for creating folders to keep specific emails organized… and to unsubscribe fun unwanted emails. Just these two tips alone will save so much time! I hope you have a beautiful week!!
I totally agree, Heidi! They’re definitely top tip time savers! Big hugs, CoCo
Great tips! I started fresh with my emails in 2025, and it felt great! However, they are starting to build back up. You have just inspired me to go back and get them under control. Thanks for the tips!
I know what you mean, Susan, it’s shocking how quickly they add up over time. Dedicating just a few minutes each day to go through them will have you organized in no time. Cheering you on, CoCo
